  1. I have a run of silver age marvel books where it looks like almost every book has a small piece of perfectly placed tape on the top and bottom corners of the spine which folds covering about an .25 inch across the front and back cover. It doesn’t look like it was needed but it looked like the original owner did this to preserve his collection. I quickly remembered doing the same thing when I was 10 with my baseball sticker books where if I saw a knick on a corner I felt it was going to peel so I’d place a tiny piece of tape on the edge. Looks messy now and totally OCD but that’s how I was so I feel this comic collector was the same way anyway, what type of grading am I looking at due to these little pieces of tape?
  2. ok cool thanks. i didn't see the other post. I was able to list last night with the normal categories but this morning, everything changed
  3. I was trying to sell a comic and the comic book era categories are non existent and replaced by a generic comics and graphic novels selection which when you finish up, it then says that category doesn't exist for use. I noticed all of other listings have changed to a default category. So what was formerly Modern Era (1992-Present)-> Captain America is gone from my listing. anyone else dealing with this?
  4. the MCU Spider-Man really has no backstory besides what he discussed with Tony in Civil War. Maybe Cletus killed the Parker parents or Uncle Ben if there was an Uncle Ben character in the MCU. All we know that there is an Aunt May. it would be a nice connection for an older Peter if they decided to keep Carnage handy for MCU. I think Peter would have had more of an influence or reason to be Spider-Man to tell Tony if his parents or relative was murdered by a maniac. Venom on the other hand if he gets to the MCU would need a reason to hate Parker or even know who Parker is and i think that link would be through his ex-wife. Maybe she would die in an accident. I can't see the symbiote having a reason to be drawn to Parker in the MCU since it already found Eddie and then where would Secret Wars play into all of this? Could they still give Spider-Man a symbiote even though Eddie has one already? They could have the symbiotes fight it out but once Peter ditches the symbiote, who would it go to if it wasn't destroyed? sorry, i'm thinking out like 10 years of Spider-Man movies. Forget Secret Wars, just go with Secret Invasion
  5. i believe you are correct. I heard with the new Spider-Man sony deal though, Spider-man can be in other MCU movie titles but Spider-Man villains can ONLY be in Spider-Man MCU movies. creating a new Venom just for MCU would be terrible. I mean look at poor Quicksilver.
  6. ASM300 is weird being that Venom is in 298 and 299. I know 300 is the first full Venom but people get crazy with the whole Hulk 180/181 debate. 299 has a hell of a reveal panel though
  7. i don't see it. I see Carnage getting killed off in the movie because as much as I liked him when he came out in the comics which was mostly because of his look and style, he is a one trick pony. A homicidal maniac rarely has anything more to give than just the bloodlust and killing and that how I always pictured Carnage. You have him appear every now and then to raise hell and then you put him away for awhile. He doesn't work the genius way Joker works even though Joker is dangerous like Carnage and if you ever read that Batman/Spider-Man one shot you can see why. Venom is a terrific character hence why he has a movie but I can't see Carnage surviving this movie. Venom usually has issues beating Carnage 1 on 1 so curious what will happen here and the current younger Spider-Man in the MCU definitely can't handle Venom or Carnage from what i've seen in the movies. I think the adult Peter in the comics was able to deal with the mental and physical task of defeating Venom but the high schooler Peter wouldn't have handled him too well. Carnage in the comics was too much for both in the 90s. The only thing i could see in the movies happening is if the Carnage symbiote works his way onto another host in the MCU would would use it in a more controlled way like Eddie does with Venom. I also think the next step after this movie woul be for Venom to be in the MCU and Venom 3 would also be a MCU movie. Don't want to see another stand alone Venom movie with no connection to MCU
  8. the way they put a little more humor in the symbiote will work very well for the movie audience. Something that was always missing in the comics but that's the way it should be. It's a good addition for the movie to give that black blob some character.
  9. 181 could go down...the Venom 2 trailer just dropped. Maybe people will start flocking to the ultra plentiful ASM361 for Carnage's FA now
  10. These 10-12 page comic books came packaged with the action figures. I know CGC grades mini comic books reprints that have come included with DVDs like Spider-Man movies so thought i'd ask
  11. i'm sure once they open the sports card gates, they will also grade non sports. I heard they grade hard. saw a submission video of fresh pokemon cards from a pack from 1999 get 8.5's
  12. thanks yeah i know its not customary to share all secrets but i was just looking for some basic magazine pressing standards. My guy worked on them and had some success getting out piches and non color breaking creases without any disasters. so i guess i'll see what comes back thanks!
  13. hahaha we went with your exact recipe. all color breaks completely disappeared! those magazines were the non wimpy type!
  14. i think the early issues with the art or stand in models with always be popular
  15. MAD is so underrated. terrific art, terrific covers. there is nobody out there that doesn't or hasn't appreciated a Mad magazine
  16. oh they have value. i have #2 castlevania cover but i think too beat to slab. the premiere issue with mario can fetch some bucks. Certain magazines have taken off in price a bit depending on athlete or character and i think it's just the start.
  17. Hey all, I have a guy working on pressing some of my SI's and other mixes of some of my favorite magazine covers and i told him i'd get info on the magazine pressing process compared to pressing comic books. he's only done comic books and he's good at it but brand new to magazines. We are just trying to get out some handling, non color breaking creases obviously magazines are much thicker than comics and different interior pages although basically the same thickness. The covers are also similar but different paper unless its a thicker stock cover I told him that it's obvious you wouldn't press with too much pressure (that you would a comic) and he should put the same pressure he would on a comic annual which is bounded and thick has anyone worked on pressing magazines and any tips i can give to him??? any successes you found by pressing? thanks in advance
  18. i was wondering if there are any grader's notes for each card after it's graded. i'm curious because the other companies don't do this. CGC and BGS both have subgrades though
  19. don't sweat it. this is the card business. nothing will never be on time. wait til sports cards get involved. one bulk submission can take down an entire grading company. you could pay PSA who is quicker than SGC or BGS for a 20 day turnaround and you'll get the cards 4-6 months later. I sent 2 packs of GPK's in January this year and got them back a month ago
  20. i'm on the same boat. i was gonna submit to PSA in a group submission but would rather take my chances on a new company with tremendous comic book community clout and see how they handle the competition. it's a nice slab they make and obviously the bottom line would be closing the gap on PSA's ROI's
  21. it would be great if they only grade cards prior to 2018 and follow the same policy each year. it would really keep the backlog down and possibly drive away pure flippers and serving more actual collectors. I'd hate to see CGC fail due to a tremendous backlog of submissions which is the biggest con of all the other grading companies.
  22. saw this was finally announced for sports cards. i'm in dire need for PSA competition and i love when CGC does for comics so i have 200 cards waiting to be graded from them. i think they will do well if they are transparent and notice any fraudulent submissions. I'd like to see some comic book graders learn the craft of sports cards grading and transfer over.
