Koschei started following Blue or Green?
-
I have two Golden age books that are in the FR - G/VG- area that in one case, the back cover is missing thus the front cover is detached & the other has pieces missing inside the book that affects the story. I was wondering, since they are low graded & also GA would they receive a Green or a Blue label? I'm sure many already know this answer & I apologize if this has been addressed clearly somewhere else. Thank you.

Question: What is the crack out procedures for an observed signature book from other companies, specifically CBCS? Do I end up with a green label CGC book? Thank you.

Old Signatures=Green Label or??
Koschei replied to Koschei's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
That's what I was wondering. I wasn't sure and so I hadn't sent in about 4 comics that were signed in the '90s because I wasn't a big fan of the Green Label. Its good to have that option. Thank you. -
Koschei started following Doug Moench Marvel Fan letter and Old Signatures=Green Label or??
-
I ran across something recently that confused me and was hoping CGC could clear the matter. I was used to seeing green labeled comics that had been signed by an artist/writer either not in CGC's presence or perhaps it was signed prior to CGC existence. (i.e.. I personally have a Gambit #1 signed by Lee Weeks & Bob Mackie I bought in 1994) However, recently on eBay I saw a copy of Young Allies #6 Variant (11/2010) that obviously had Arthur Adams signature on the cover yet it was a 9.0 CGC Blue Universal grade. How does this work? If someone doesn't "want" the green label they can get a Blue or what? (examples attached) Any clarification is appreciated

Any chance I can piggyback on this old thread and ask @mycomicshopif when they sell books, say over a certain amount of money, is there a payment plan or is it always a case of full payment within a certain number of days. Reason I'm asking...I'm eyeing a book of yours in the 10-15K and probably couldn't fulfill it all at the moment in full. If not, no problem, I'll keep saving up. Thanks.

OK. So if my Silver Surfer 14 (4118410021) should have this, wouldn't my ASM 17 (4008863003) have it as well? Just trying to understand what is the criteria for placing it on the notes if it happened twice but is only documented once. Thank you.
-
I was just going through some of my silver age CGC comics and happened upon seeing that for some reason my Silver Surfer #14 from 1970 has a side note stated there was a Letter by Doug Moench in this issue. That seems very odd because I was almost certain I had read his letter in my ASM 17 from 1964, because he was touting the first appearance of the Green Goblin back in ASM 14. Unfortunately my ASM 17 is now slabbed by you guys and cant confirm, but i believe this is an error. Doug would have been like 22 yrs old in 1970 and he began working in comics that year, not to mention I'm positive he was talking about ASM in his letter not the Silver Surfer. Thanks. CJ

Why do an eyeroll mate? This is the noob section and so, I don't know, maybe let someone ask a noob question, geez.

How would you know if there was a bias based on CGC seeing another companies grade? Doesn't it give a preconceived notion to the grader that this book is X grade or lower based on the company they see graded it? Just playing devil's advocate on sending it in with the grade & slab.

Here are just a few. First, before you look at the comic covers & such. Has CGC considered having the "main" stars of Marvel always have a custom label? I ask this due to recently wanting to send in a few older comics and noticed currently there are no labels for the Hulk, Captain America, Ghost Rider, Thor (male), or Punisher. I understand the idea to update and switch labels regularly, but I would think marketing would know that certain characters are mainstays that fans would be more inclined to want on a regular basis and not have to wait a year for an update to see if their favorite character finally has a custom label. With that said, here are a few that might be nice to have.

Back when I sent in my first say, 50-60 books in early '20 I was overall impressed with the grading. It was fair & very rarely did I disagree or see fault in what they graded. Mind you, some were harder to handle cause one can always be an optimist about a book, even when you really shouldn't be. Now, outside of silver age submissions, the modern submissions are a joke. I had a 10 set that were all easily 9.8. a random 9.6 in there wouldn't have bothered me at all, however, I got, no mess, eight 9.6's and one 9.8, one 9.4. I've been collecting for 30+ years, I know when a comic is damn close or a 9.8. I've had comics I read more than once from the 80's and 90's that I submitted and got 9.8 on because of the pressing/cleaning done prior to submissions. I take them seriously. They just have half graders now due to the boom & the the customer is "literally" paying for it in loss of value of their submissions. I have stopped submitting moderns for now. I don't know when it will improve, but it sure as hell needs to, because I have no interest in wasting my money with CGC.

Missing invoice status after 8 months
Koschei replied to Thatman's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Where is the submission number on the shipping form? There is only the CGC number that doesn’t work when I attempt to use that to find out what is going on with my over 8 month submissions. 😑- 3 replies
