  1. I have similar problems from time to time - usually if I am trying too many searches back to back or refresh the browser. In either case, I end up with a blank white screen. It's usually something I can fix by closing the browser and opening a new one, and it only happens for me on iOS.
  2. The inked prelim is different enough from the final that I would have questions about whether it was the original or some kind of recreation. Any amount of research would have brought your original up. This is one of the things I like most about having a resource like CAF out there.
  3. I would look at offsite storage storage options. If you're going to have people in and out of the house, it's probably not worth leaving it there.
  4. Suddenly bummed I won’t make it! There are some great pieces there.
  5. My approach to Marvel movies these days is "i'll catch it on streaming" so i'm not 100% sure, but was this one delayed? I saw quite a bit of marketing for it months ago (happy meal tie-ins in July, for example), but it was all gone (or on the way out) by the time the film actually released. It reminded me of the WW1984 push, where there was a huge gap between the (little) marketing and the film with a lot of dead space in between.
  6. While I don't know if alcohol was involved here, what other remotely passable excuse could there be?
  7. If you recall the artist’s general location, a copy of the floor layout/booth guide might give you a good place to start. From there, you can google names in that general area until you find the guy you’re looking for. This has worked for me in the past.
  8. Don’t worry. The guy responsible for getting packages shipped is the same one getting the site back up. It will get fixed…eventually.
  9. Hey folks. Does anyone here know how to connect with Doug Braithwaite? I have an art inquiry for him but he doesn’t seem to be active on social media.
  10. I haven’t talked to him since April, but it looks like he has logged in to CAF as recently as this month.
  11. I use this Lineco document repair tape. It’s light, acid-free, and is very easy to remove if needed.
  12. Hey folks! I think it was 2014 last time I posted here (I spend most of my time around the comic art forums these days) I have a handful of sketch covers that I am interested in posting for sale, but I'm not sure where the best place (here on the forums) would be - the modern marketplace thread? Mixed age/misc thread?
  13. I would bet that they all passed through a single collector that, unfortunately, decided to mount the art to another board. If you're motivated, you might be able to find other examples on CAF and find your way to the person who made the change (even if they aren't on CAF). They could provide insight into the materials used to mount the art.
  14. Of the four #8 pages that I see on HA, it looks like only two have had the board added. It appears to be something done after the fact, and it might be worth looking into to see what type of adhesive was used to mount the piece to the board.
  15. I am more of a DC guy, but I love this page for that panel 4 Spider-Man image alone. The overlap of the leg into the top panel is a great touch. If I were a Spider-Man collector, I think I would consider that a solid buy.
  16. I love that page, though I didn't end up bidding on it. It's a prime example of the importance of word balloons - the first, third, and fourth panels are nice (heck, they're all great), but "I assume he saw something in the mirror?" is a line I still remember from the first time I read the book.
  17. I watched these shows regularly for the first few months. As time went on, it started to become more about "characters" than the art (and I'm not talking about the folks on the livestream). I will pop in from time to time, but I had to drop when people I like began grating on me. I do generally jump on YouTube the next day and scrub through the video to see the pieces, if only to see what was available.
  18. I have multiple pages from a recent Superman Red & Blue story that were done at 9x12. I have not seen a 9x12 piece with the full DC guides printed out on the smaller board, which: A) could definitely mislead someone thinking they're looking at a larger piece if the size isn't disclosed, and B) is a nice touch, and something unique (in my experience) for a piece of this size. I have talked to a few artists who found that working on large boards lured them into additional detail that was lost in printing. Working at a smaller size allowed them to "work for the final" vs getting lost in the detail. It's probably just a matter of preference and speed.
  19. Not much to say. I won a handful of items in the March auction that have yet to ship. The team is always quick to respond and I have no doubt they will get the items out, but logistics is where things tend to fall apart with ComicConnect. I have had orders go flawlessly and orders with a missing house number. Some show up days after an auction ends, and some aren't shipped two months later. It hasn't stopped me from doing business with them, but it's always something to take into account.
  20. You can buy them from comic shops - they're generally solicited as a variant alongside standard covers. I used to buy stacks of them from Midtown. I didn't end up using nearly as many as I purchased, but I used a lot of them for exactly what you're describing. You can usually send a blank to an artist (as long as they agree) and meet them at a show for pickup. As long as CGC (or a facilitator/witness) is at the show and is with you at pickup, it will be eligible for the yellow label.
  21. It's important to keep the thread around as a reminder to consider what you're dropping that kind of money on. Fortunately for Donny, he purchased the piece from Albert - someone who will generally stand behind the items he sells. There are other dealers out there (previously mentioned) who will try to pass off unpublished pieces as something they aren't. I think the story would have ended differently if the piece had been picked up from someone less scrupulous, or from someone who dumped the piece and disappeared. I see the situation as more of a cautionary tale than reason to make fun, as embarrassing (and high profile, given his social media following) as the mistake was. Now if the story keeps going and Donny's camp tries putting all of the blame on Albert, I will feel a little less sorry for the guy. My initial concern was what would happen had Donny decided to keep the piece and sell it as original down the road to someone else who didn't know what they were buying. Fortunately, we have avoided that outcome. Someone else said it (here or in the other thread) but it's worth repeating - make sure you do your homework, whether you're buying here on the boards, on Heritage, Clink, Dueling Dealers, or elsewhere. Heritage doesn't always have it right either - this page advertised an exchange between Superman and Green Lantern until yesterday (the day of the auction) - GL isn't on the page.
