  1. Its a fun series to collect. I just finished completing one with all the side stories...Zombie Deadpool, Marvel Apes and even the manga style comics. Some of the more obscure variants are harder to find in high grade though. The hardcover with all the covers is an awesome book to flip through.
  2. I like having cool covers slabbed. So in my Xmen collection I have issues 212 and 213 - cgc 9.4s....but I also have reader copies. They are not big money books but they look cool slabbed and they add a little "pop" to the run if I ever wanna sell.
  3. How dirty are these slabs ? I just use a soft cloth to wipe mine down and I use polywatch on any scratches.
  4. Ive always hated that cover. Jim def made it better! Shoot, Id let Jim or Todd do a sketch on any book I own.
  5. I buy sets all the time as long as they are all high grade books. The thing with selling sets is you need to be very patient and wait for that one buyer. When I sell my collection it will be sold in sets. I dont wanna be left with a mess of filler issues that no one needs or wants. They'll sit a while and accumulate watchers until someone pulls the trigger.
  6. These cabinets are perfect for comics...plenty of room inside. I do 3 rows of 100 books. I could actually fit 4 rows in these drawers though. I place stiff boards every 30 or so books to try and keep em up straight. I could use bookends but they get in the way when I wanna flip through.
  7. It's a nice looking 9.4. It has very light spine roll so I don't think it's been pressed. There's one color break on the spine but otherwise it's a sweet copy.
  8. Book is a graded 9.4 There's what looks to be ink on the letters U and E. This has to be a manufacturer defect ...right? I'm thinking if it's writing, it would get the purple label treatment. Am I correct? Thanks
  9. I wanna store my books flat...I REALLY DO! Bagged and boarded stacks wont develop spine roll. I like to flip through my books a lot though...like every day. But standing? I cant help but feel that my books are developing spine stress even as I type this. Books dont stand straight up, they lean on each other no matter what you do. The flaps on the bags create a weird slope when you have 100 books in a row and a row of 100 books is a lot of weight. Sometimes Ill pull out an issue and wonder if that spine tick im looking at was always there or if it developed over time. Drives ne nuts. Sooner or later Im just gonna stack them for long term storage (till death) and put my mind at ease.
  10. CGC has been good for me overall. Ive had to send a few slabs back for mechanicals in the past and of course Ive learned to live with my share of scuffs/rings but Ive never had a book damaged before. Im a mess as is...I cant imagine how Id feel if this was a big money book.
  11. What really grinds my gears is I paid good money for this raw copy because I knew it would grade a 9.4, at least...and I was cool with that. It would have been a sweet looking 9.4, wouldve fit in nicely with the rest of my Toxin set. But now its an ugly 9.4 and I have to start from scratch. This mini series is impossible to find already graded and most raw copies of issue #4 have production defects. It really didnt need the extra dings.
  12. I'm not sure this qualifies as a quality control issue but I'll post it here. The spine was clean when I sent it in...there are multiple bends now.
  13. Just came back and with new damage. The spine was bend free when submitted. I even posted it on the "spare a grade?" board so you can check that out if you want. I was hoping for a 9.6 only because there were some production flaws. Now I have a 9.4 with color breaking spine bends AND production flaws. Before and after pics below
  14. Came back a 9.4. No grader notes. Meh... It also came back with new damage. 1 color breaking spine line which was not present when I sent it in. 3 fresh finger bends in all...2 at the top of the pic and 1 at the bottom. If this book had a color break on the spine, I wouldn't have bothered sending it in to be graded.
  15. Let's say the 9.8 goes for $500 but you know it's over graded and you're willing to take $350. List it as an auction with a starting bid of $350. Buyers will be less suspicious of the low price if it's an auction.
  16. I like reading through them but they are similar to Fantasy Football magazines these days. The info inside the guide gets outdated fast.
  17. So... ASM 410? 9.8s are going for close to $200. The listings all say "1st Spider-Carnage" but the CGC labels only say "Carnage appearance". Why is that and will CGC update the labels going forward to say "1st Spider-Carnage"?
  18. How hard could it possibly be to grade a card? Corners, edges, centering & surface
