  1. There are no color breaks on the spine, I just take crappy pics no matter how much I try. The light is hitting the spine making it hard to see. There is one, very light, non color breaking bend on the spine. Im hoping a press helps that.
  2. Sounds silly right? Well, a lot can happen in a years time. I feel like there should be a section on the submission forms where you assign godparents for your comics in case you die. What would happen to my slabs should I expire mid grading?
  3. If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!
  4. I consider myself a very patient person but its getting harder and harder to stay positive. 3 books received for pressing 8 weeks ago. 1 book scheduled for grading damn near 5 months ago.
  5. I use media mail because Ebay and Amazon offer it. They dont have to. They can easily disable the option for comic book listings. Ebay doesnt offer the media mail option if you sell a pair of shoes so they shouldn't offer it if you're selling comic books. I'm guessing it's some sort of silent agreement between the USPS and Ebay/Amazon. Maybe it's that Ebay mailing label that keeps my packages safe. Maybe the folks having their packages inspected are not using them. The USPS could shut it down if they wanted to.
  6. Ive been shipping comics by media mail for a few years now and never had a single problem. Im not sure why folks shy away from using the service. With media mail, you can use heavy duty boxes and much more packing materials without it costing you a fortune. Ive lost count of how many books Ive bought, that were shipped to me by Priority mail and ended up arriving damaged. Just dont send slabs by media mail.
  7. I have a book that has been scheduled for grading since May 25th...
  8. True, all books get pressed these days. I'm afraid to not have mine pressed. Could that be somewhat in response to CGC grading finger bends a bit more harshly than in years past? Some may even think it a strategy on CGCs part to almost leave us no choice but to use CCS. To pay a little extra and get our books pancaked before grading...or else. I'm not one of those people but I've heard it said.
  9. Thanks for taking the time. Theres a 9.8 for sale on Ebay and I think i see the line by the spine but I can't be sure. Now, if I sent this in for a press, you think that would that take care of it regardless?
  10. Hey, I have a raw copy of Marvel Zombies 1 and I'm gonna post it on the "spare a grade?" board. It looks high grade to me but somethings going on by the spine. There seems to be a crease line going down the spine, front and back of the book but it is completely flat and may be a production defect. The inside pages have some of the same type of lines through the pages Could you please check it out for me if you get a minute? I'd appreciate it big time!
  11. I hear you. Its tough without holding the slab in your hand though. Then there are sellers who supply just one pic and never reply when you ask for more. Im looking for Marvel Zombies 1 in either 9.6 or 9.8. Ebay only has a few and theyre all in 15 year old slabs. I posted in the "want to buy" section a few minutes ago so maybe Ill have more luck here.
  12. Man, youre setting off my Spidey sense. I almost wish you'd come right out and say NEVER take the chance spending big bucks on a book in a 15 year old slab...but only if you mean it. 😟
  13. Do you think these books would have at least held their grades without a press? I mean, you pressed a 6.0 and it came back lower? Thats scary.
  14. So most of these I understand, people are clumsy... but moisture and mold?...warping and rippling? What in the Sam Hill are those about? I always thought the slab was to protect the book from such damage. Should books be re-slabbed every so many years like bags and boards?
  15. What are some. Of the things that could happen to a book that's been stabbed for that long?
  16. I feel like CGC is much tougher on the way they grade in 2021 compared to say 2005. So is it smarter to buy newer slabs? I do know there wasn't too much pressing going on back then so that's a plus to buying older slabs. If you cracked and resubmitted a 9.8 slab from 2005, would it stand up to CGCs latest grading standards?
