    I agree, the book is currently still on it's way to me, and they were described as "loose" when I had purchased it. So that's just what I went by. But I assume they are detached.

    For those wondering about the crayon, it's in most of the books. It's not random doodles, It's really just colored in images.

    I counted 11 color plates, but you did state that the first one is a frontispiece. I'm not quite sure what that is, the book may have it but I'd have to do some research.

    This is the exact reason I have interest in the books, they seem to be pretty dark considering they were made for kids.

    I'll do my best to answer your first question, I'd have to check on that. I honestly know nothing about color plates, or older books in general. SO I wouldn't know how to answer that question. If they are in a specific spot in the book that you know of, I'd be able to check.
