  1. Not complaining at all, just trying to understand the process and why things are graded differently. Plus, obviously, the comics magazine section isn't quite as well travelled.
  2. I guess the real question is why do "loose" inserts in a poly bagged comic not need to be present when graded while these "loose" inserts in a magazine do? If we are seeking a uniform standard when grading these books, it should be the same across the board.
  3. I'm going to try and make this simple and probably fail. As I understand it, CGC grades inserts differently based upon if they are actually bound into the book rather than just included with it. Examples being: ASM 238 the tattoo is bound to one staple so if it is removed the book gets a qualified grade. Early Valiant (Magnus or Harbinger) the coupons were stapled into the books, so when removed, we get a qualified grade. In the above examples the inserts are not part of the actual comic but they are are bound into the product with a staple (or two). On the other hand we have a glut of '90's fun that came polybagged with the comics where our bonus material is loose. Superman 75, we are told to remove it from the bag and not send the card/poster/armband in as they will just be discarded (please correct me if I'm wrong here). Same goes for X-Force 1 and its various cards and a thousand other books. That brings me to my question. Over in the comics magazine thread, we have had a brief discussion about 2000A.D. #2. A very important book as it contains the first appearance of Judge Dredd. This issue was distributed with a sheet of Biotronic stickers. By all accounts these stickers were just inserted into the issue but not bound in any way, so in simple terms, loose. If anyone has info other than this please let me know. I've never seen a copy with a bound set of stickers (and I own the stickers that show no signs of having been removed from the book) but data on this book is surprisingly scarce for such a key issue. So far, and we are very early into the grading cycle on this book so there is a chance to get this right, CGC has graded only 20 copies, 14 universal (I'm assuming these all have the stickers) and 6 qualified (again assuming missing the stickers). Obviously this is pre polybag era, but we can assume from the above data that had it come in a polybag (which in reality only makes it easier to keep the stickers with the book) it wouldn't need them to be considered whole and therefore universal. Are there other examples of books missing loose inserts creating a qualified label? Hopefully that all makes sense and we can find a consensus before this book grows into the monster it deserves to be and it's too late to fix what I believe to be a mistake by CGC in the handling of this very key issue.
  4. I've always liked 149-151, 1st Judge Death and Judge Anderson. As well as 160 with the 1st Angel Gang appearance as keys for the Dredd collector.
  5. Still curious about the stickers, were they originally loose or somehow attached to the book? Every pic I've ever seen has the stickers loose. Would the condition of the stickers be factored into the overall grade of the book? So many questions. I have the book and the stickers, would love to get them graded. I always thought this book was terribly undervalued, looks like that is changing now.
  6. A huge thanks to Mike for all the hard work. I look forward to the next one.
  7. A couple bullseyes (finally) but not good enough. How that Startling Comics is a 3.0 is beyond me. I gave it a 1.8 because it was uglier than the Submariner that got a 2.0. Cleary ugly golden age books are my weakness.
  8. Just sent mine in, maybe I was kicked out for sucking so bad last round.
  9. 6 for me. 1 off on four of them and two on the ASM. That might be the ugliest 3.0 I've ever seen. G
  10. maybe a 1.0 on a generous day but my money is on a .5
  11. Great job everyone. I'm shocked that I did as well as I did and really just a couple books killed me (I'm looking at you NM 98). Thanks Mike for all the hard work. When's the next one?
  12. 5 for me. Better than the first two rounds but still not good enough. Hopefully I don't miss the next contest, these are a good time. Thanks Mike.
  13. Got it and after the chosen emoji I am cautiously optimistic. Thanks for all the hard work, Mike.
  14. Sent mine in last night but didn’t get a confirmation if I’m one of the missing ones.
  15. Sent my grades in. Had a good 3rd round, still no way I'm finishing near the top. Great work everyone. These are fun
  16. Best round for me so far. 3 bullseyes on the first 3 books, 3 points for the other 2 books.
  17. It was the Red Dragon that did me in, That's an ugly 5.5 for my money. 7 total for me. not great, but it could have been worse.
  18. I think my favorite part of all this is trying to figure out if the emoji Mike uses to let me know the grades have been recorded means I did amazing or totally awful.
  19. Trying not to overthink things too much this time around. Good luck everyone.
  20. I'd love to take another crack at one of these. Count me in please.
