  1. @Yorick eBay has sold comps on Miracleman #1 graded 9.8's $200 - $400. Raws in the VF/NM range there are dozens sold between $20-$40. I'd call mine low NM/High VF, think I marked it $20, but it's not the UK versions. @davet75 Glad you enjoyed the adventure, I know I sure am so far. And here's what was in the 2 raw "Quarter" boxes. I broke it up for the stuff 75-cents and lower first. Most of this stuff was lower grade, don't think I had but 2 things tagged over $5, the rest got boarded/bagged at $2/3 or left raw in a box to make a 50-cent or $1 box, just didn't feel like bagging some of this. Don't get me wrong, if some of these were NM, a lot of $25-50+ books, but most of them were Good/VG, maybe a Fine here and there or only $2 in NM type things. 2001, A Space Odyssey: #3 Action Comics: #567 All Star Squadron: #40 Alpha Flight: #41 Astonishing Tales: #19 Blue Devil: #6 Captain Atom: #14 Captain Marvel: #47 Career Girl Romances: #28 Claw the Unconquered: #9 Conan the Barbarian: #57 The Dark Crystal: #2 Dazzler: #42 Demon Hunter: #1 D.P.7: #1 Everything's Archie: #115 The Fury of Firestorm: #11 The Grim Ghost: #1 Howard the Duck: #2 The Jack of Hearts: #2 Justice: #5 Kid Colt Outlaw: #202, 204 Korak Son of Tarzan: #59 The Little Stooges: #1 The Lone Ranger: #23 Mark Hazzard Merc: #4 Marvel Spotlight: #25 (Sinbad) Master of Kung Fu: 340 The Mighty Marvel Western: #42, 43, 44 Mister Miracle: #24 Morlock 2001: #3 Omega the Unknown: #3 Our Army at War: #295 Psi-Force: #1, 2, 3, 4, 8 Rawhide Kid: #121, 131 Richie Rich Millions: #88 Secret Origins (3rd Series): #5 Secret Society of Super-Villains: #8 Shazam!: #12, 20 Spitfire and the Troubleshooters: #1, 3, 8 Squadron Supreme: #5, 8, 9, 11 The Star Brand: #4, 6, 8, 10, 12 Superboy: #211 Superman (1st Series): #420 Superman (2nd Series): #21 Tales of the Legion: #337 Tor (DC): #4 Tragg and the Sky Gods: #1 Turok, Son of Stone: #91 (Whitman) Twilight Zone: #68 Two-Gun Kid: #127, 128 The Unknown Soldier: #205 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories: #373, 440 Warlord (DC): #72 The West Coast Avengers: 336 ================== The rest of the raw stuff. Sorry so long, was hoping for more runs vs a ton of individual comics. I ended up with about 1/2 this staying raw for that .50 cent box and bagged/boarded about one short box with the rest. What this guy had for quarter boxes had more value than some of those whole indie long boxes I dug through last month lol. Nothing super valuable, but for basically free, had a few over $10, a dozen or so in that $5-10 range, then the rest of what was bagged up around $3. 2. Hi Guys! Got some projects caught up around the house. Still around reading and learning. Sales are picking up at the coin shop now that word is getting around. Getting a little bit of room in some of the boxes to try to incorporate some of those mixed boxes up into the right place, so that is nice. The comic sales/traffic is driving some sales of the other stuff in the shop, so everybody is happy so far. Did a few more sales through PMs here and sending in a group of the higher priced things to mycomicstore at the moment. Should have the project paid for next month. With my little bit of knowledge I gained from this project with pricing and titles, am able to look at online auctions (not eBay - mostly lots while waiting on coins) and have a much better understanding of values and have got a few good deals in the last few weeks (Like full run of Tank Girl/Tank Girl2 for under $1 type deals). Then today at a yard sale, guy had three short boxes of comics. Two raw 80% full priced 25 cents each, and one 75% full bagged and boarded priced individually (His prices totaled $221). Did the "What do you want for all 3 boxes" thing. He flipped, did some math, says nobody has really looked at them - "How about $60 for all". Well - I'm a sucker for basically a lottery ticket, and actually most of the titles weren't ones I had in my last project, some a little older, some newer I didn't get to learn much about, so was kind of excited to take the chance and learn more so I own those now. Plus I get to work on my grading since the last group was mostly unread lock NM new old-stock. These I'll have to grade better to price them accordingly, can't blindly go down the NM/9.4 guide column. Since you all seemed to like my last adventure, here is what is in the first Yard Sale Box (His bagged/boarded box). He had them priced $221 total. I repriced them after looking them all up to total: $495 The newer stuff was mostly VF/NM, the older stuff VG/VF for the most part. Couple of exceptions, but: Adventure Into Fear: #31 (Morbius) All Star Squadron: #24 The Amazing Spider-Man: #283 The Avengers: #213, 220, 221, 222, 224, 230, 231, 233, 235, 271, 295 Battle Pope (Image): #4, 5, 6 Blaze of Glory: Set #1-4 Bloodshot: #6 Captain America (1st Series): #602 Captain America (6th Series): #1 Captain America: Marvels Snapshots: #1 Captain America Reborn: Who Will Wield the Shield?: #1 Conan the Barbarian: #275 Damage Control Vol 1: #4 DC Comics Presents: #49 (vs Black Adam) DC Universe: Decisions: #1 The Defenders: #14, 33, 36, 53, 67 The Deadly Duo (2nd Series): #1 Detective Comics: #433 Dr. Strange: Annual #1 ('76) Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America: #1b Ghost Rider: #6 Haunt: #1,2,3,11 The Incredible Hulk: #390 Iron Fist: #3 Ironwolf: #1 The Irredeemable Ant-Man: #1 Joker's Asylum: The Penguin: #1 Jungle Action: #17, 20 (Black Panther) Justice League of America: #235 Marvel Comics Presents: #2 (Wolverine) Marvel Team-Up: #15 (Spidey & Ghost Rider) Miracleman: #1 Morlock 2001: #1 The Phantom Stranger: #32 Penguin: Pain & Prejudice: #1 Power Man: #28 (Luke Cage) Sam Slade, Robo-Hunger: #1-3 Silverblade: #1 The Spectacular Spider-Man: #65 Spider-Man: #21 Star Wars Infinities: The Empire Strikes Back: #4 Superman (2nd Series): #170, 189 Superman The Man of Steel: #18, 19 1st Printings, #22 Special Cover, Ultimate Captain America: #4 Voodoo: #3 Weird Western Tales (2001): Set #1-4 Wonder Woman (2nd Series): #1, 171 Here is what is in the 2 boxes of raw he had marked 25 cents each. I'm not expecting much, but tried to sort them by cover price to see what I was dealing with. Some older stuff in lower grades, then a lot of newer, so I get to dig through all this tonight after a Birthday Party.

I hope you've enjoyed the unboxing as much as I did. Yea... not a lot of home-runs in the lot, but enough solid things that I'm not worried in the least. And what I've learned in the last 3 weeks has been immense - I can't thank you all for the replies, comments, PM's, etc - this is a really great community for sure. I still have a very small death pile of things I need to research better to price. Those John Byrne Holiday Cards I've only found 1 reference to in an old thread on John Byrne's message boards about someone's JB "Grail" items. I'm still waiting to get approved over there to ask what he remembers about them, but read 61 pages of his message board in the last several days, he's a very interesting person. I sold about 30 comics yesterday at the coin show - the little 1-day shows aren't as big as that 3-day show, but at least some sold. Many people left their want lists, as I put a sign saying I have 8000+ comics at home, leave a want list and I'll try to bring any I have next show, so that's hopeful. I've sent more stuff out to members here via PMs, got a few more things I need to bring back from the shop to send photos of, etc - so it's progressing just fine for me. Still have a lot to ponder from this adventure for sure and plan the next steps. I need to focus on a few projects around the house to keep the peace at home in the immediate future, but I won't be a stranger for sure. I'm always reading posts and trying to learn, even if I don't have much to post myself. So again - thank you all so much! Jeff
  4. Had a busy last few days, but got to dig into 2 1/2 Star Trek themed boxes today. Funny thing is none of this stuff was priced, and it's all complete sets/runs (except "books") But Annuals, specials, oneshots, most variants, etc. He was missing 1 annual and two single issues in the newer Voyager series, but I may have those in the other boxes. I'll likely bundle them as sets - but not sure how big the Star Trek market is (I was more a Star Wars fan). I almost feel bad selling this. 5. More great advice as always. I'll do that and put it in the case at the shop for now. It may be a candidate if I do a box of stuff to that comicshop.com site. I did have 2 coin dealers buy any horror stuff I had in those auction buy boxes last show, I'm going to try to get a more narrowed down want lists for the show after this Sunday, so you never know.
  6. Thanks @F For Fake - sounds like a solid gameplan. As for the Psycho Killers, I got to sit and look - almost all of them have a sold at/around $10 with shipping, so pretty much going with that, and ignoring the higher prices or crazy guides. But... This one is the exception to the rest. And of course the optimistic folks: I used to use the tool to see the actual best offer accepted, but it quit working about a year ago, but my copy is pristine, easily a high NM, where would you price this one?
  7. So here is my dilemma with True Gein: ComicsPriceGuide lists 9.4 at $3 and only has 1 cover: AtomicAvenue.com has NM Price Guide at $3.25 but has 1 available at $144.99 eBay has 3 sold: with shipping, about: $30, $26 (Signed), $15, then a lot of 3 for for $24 There are 9 listed/not sold at about $150, $149, $135, $120, $100, $85, $80 (Signed), $50 (Signed), $47 So with "Guides" so low, I'm guessing the eBay sold is likely more indicative at around $20-$25 I've just never seen the prices so all over the place. Then, quandary #2 is I also have a special cover that's signed that doesn't show in the price guides, although there are 2 listed on eBay and 1 sold. My 3 are: So if I mark the two regular ones $20 and the signed $25, am I at least in the ballpark? Then ignore those folks with the way elevated prices?

  11. 1/2 Simpsons box: - Another decent value box for the most part Crazy for the Simpsons TV Guide 1 of 4 Collectors' Covers Futurama/Simpsons Crossover Crisis Simpsons Comics Strike Back! Bart Simpson's Treehouse of Horror Bartman Itchy & Scratchy Krusty Comics Lisa Comics Radioactive Man Simpsons Comics Simpsons Comics Presents Bart Simpson Then stuffed in the back of this box were 4 older Whitman Logo comics The Black Hole #2 Brothers of the Spear #11 & #17 Variation A Buck Rogers in the 25th Century #3 @jsilverjanet @F For Fake A few pages back there were 2 posts listing all the titles of the adult stuff if you were wondering. Time to go see what awaits in the "Sets" boxes.
  12. Got through the Animaniacs & Pinky. I think that short box had total prices more than the last 3 indie boxes. A lot of 8/9, 12/15, 20's and a $34. I had the #1 DC Logo found earlier in the project I posted, no other DC logo's but lot's of book value in these, so that's good. #51 is showing $195 on one of the price guides, lots listed on ebay $99+, not sure where reality is on this one though. Also had a cassette tape Animaniacs Song Sampler in the back of the box Pinky and the Brain had some decent value as well, so happy with this part of the kid box.
  13. Continuing with the Indie boxes - this was a rough one. *** Topps X-Files ('95) Almost all + Annuals + small Comics Digest X-Files Fight the Future Feature Film X-Files Ground Zero - Set #1-4 X-Files Season One - Decent, had a variant cover Zorro *** Triad The Honeymooners - only #2 *** Triumphant Scavengers - Never seen individually numbered comics, 4x #1 black/white of 25,000, 1x #1 colored of 50,000 Ashcan *** Ursus Studios Buster the Amazing Bear - love the "1st Groovy issue" *** Valiant (Please don't be another Malibu) Archer and Armstrong - #11-15 Bloodshot - No good ones Deathmate - Every foil color but Gold The Second Life of Doctor Mirage Eternal Warrior The H.A.R.D. Corps Harbinger Magnus Robot Fighter Ninjak Rai and the Future Force Secret Weapons Shadowman Solar Man of the Atom Time Walker Turok Dinosaur Hunter (8x #1 Valiant Vision Starter Kit Vantage Press Release Review X-O Manowar (Thank god that is over with) *** Vantage How to $ell at Shows - 1996 that was different - I'll keep that one and read a comic about selling comics *** Vortex NASCAR Adventures *** Walt Disney White Fang *** Warp Graphics Elfquest Hidden Years Elfquest New Blood Elfquest Shards *** Zone Productions Classic Comic Book Ads of the 60's Cult Television So that is it for Alphabetized boxes. The "Kiddie" box is all Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Simpsons variants, I'll hit that one tomorrow then start breaking into those "Sets" boxes. And @Qalyar - Let's be honest here, those Adult boxes are going to be the saving grace to this whole deal at least finance-wise.
  14. @Bird So I've mailed some comics from PMs here (Trying not to make this a BST thread as we frown on that on the coin side) but I've had a lot of PMs. Close to $500 I've sold almost $300 out of the adult boxes at the coin store. ("Adult comics behind counter - please ask to see") worked wonders - they all ask to see. Sold about $75 of "normal" comics - but most of that came when I only had about 8 boxes down there. Most of the folks who came into the shop for the comic post the owner made said they would be back. They opened a party store right next door last Friday and a mother came in looking for cheap things to stuff party bags for a pre-teen and I happened to be there dropping off boxes, I got her a nice selection for cheap. The store had just ordered a new full window sign and called them in time to add comics to it, that should be in shortly. And of course, my Mother wanted to help so ordered 30 comics - 2 for each grandchild for Christmas of their favorite super hero although I didn't charge her much of course. I also have about $150 set aside for want lists from the normal coin dealers who left me a list at the last show I'm taking up to them. My next coin show is this Sunday - I don't have a ton of room, I was thinking on making a small box of low dollar stuff (things marked $1-4) for those Dads buying cheap things for their kids or the boy scouts who meet at our show - maybe early afternoon put a 1/2 off sign on it, and then maybe a half box of more interesting things that may interest some pure comic folks. Also making a sign to leave their want lists so I can maybe tailor what I bring each month if I have it. The helper and his antique booths he hasn't got a load yet - he filled up with quite a few from the last show (Those ones I got at an auction prior to this deal) but I'm putting together another box for him. I also read the dozens of pages on that mycomicshop.com thread - once I'm done sorting, and get the comics where they can be sold, and maybe catch up on some projects I've put off for 2.5 weeks, I kind of like their business model - much like Greatcollections for coins. I think a lot of my adult comics over $30 would do well there vs locally, and I have only a handful of grading candidates that they will process so I don't have to, and a handful of other regular comics that booked over $50 if my grading and their grading are in the ballpark. I might go that route with a box of comics and see how they do. So... they're moving - about 1/3 recouped - certainly not like a true comic store with desirable inventory, but I'll make it work one way or another. I'm a pretty crafty fellow and who could go wrong with all the great advice this forum has given me.
  15. @Qalyar Mr. T Was #1 and one other issue I believe Jurassic Park had some of the better variants, priced the up Pale Horse - Good to know, I think I ran across that today on another - maybe Married with Children? Next Men - Yup, certainly a lot of coincidences like that with the only valuable one missing - well, live and learn, and press on best I can Quantum Leap - I have: 1/2/3/4/7/8/9/10/11/11/13 - No special but a few I have marked up $10-$20 which is why I commented higher than I thought for those. Interview with the Vampire - not a full set (Maybe when I get to the set boxes). For anything I've been finding with sets (usually the easy things, like sets of 3/5/12) I'll bag them together as a set, maybe take a buck or two off the combined total and just price the singles if any normal. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Prices all over the place - $3, $6, $30, no eBay sold comps the only VF/NM listed is $29.95 BIN free shipping. I marked mine $20 As for the Black Holes - the online guides didn't have them much - $4-$5. I couldn't match my #6 to all 3 sites I use. eBay sold comps have a few sets where the average book is $10-$20 each for the set and singled with shipping near $15, so I marked all mine $15. Pretty sure mine are the '98 reprints They're in great shape, I'd call them NM (Still not good with 9.0-9.8). Tonight's project is finish the Topps (I'm at the X-files but about 1/2 a box left), a few misc "T" companies, then on to Valiant - that's over a box, and without knowing their history, the comics don't look that spectacular, but maybe I'll be surprised. And a few inches of XYZ after Valiant. Then I'm done with indies except the "Kiddie" box and whatever is in the 6 "Sets" box, which is again, heavy on Indie (A lot more of those Alien books). Then I still have the Star Trek boxes, and the Manga and some misc leftover Marvel - fun fun fun.
