    Grader notes

Quite frustrating as my recent submssions I had several books that I believe have been given low grades without explanation. I am a collected and have been for 35+ years. I know what I own and I sent in books which I have multiple copies of and bought at the same time 30 years ago. Exact books...couple received 9.8's but a couple received 9.4s. Totally inconsistent. I submitted my books this way to "test" cgc on how consistent your grading is. I now know...very inconsistent. This is a big problem for me as this misreading and inconsistency costs me significant value differences for my beautiful perfect condition books. I keep looking and looking and reviewing my books in their cases and they look perfect to me. I cannot find not see any imperfections, bends, or other defects that warrant 9.4 grades. So I am VERY upset and frustrated about this. I personally think that since the buyout new rules have been put in place...maybe even artificial limits to how many books are given 9.8 grades. I cannot think of another explanation.

    Grader notes

I just got an email stating that grader notes are now available. I went to my last submission and there are no grader notes. Whats up?
  4. Yeah, I completely agree. I have several examples too. Back in the day I bought 5-6 Wolverine #1 (1988 new series). They were all immaculate. They have been bagged and boarded ever since. I know what I own and the condition. So I do believe they have put some sort of cap on 9.8's. I also believe if there was any damage at all it was caused by them. Unfortunately I did not take detailed pictures before I sent in my submission. Very upset about that. But I am now looking around for alternatives to CGC as I no longer trust them.
  5. I have an opportunity to go to a local museum where Bill Sienkiewicz will be signing items. I would like to know if after I am able to get his signature on my comic will I be able to send it in to get the Signature Signing status by CGC when it is slabbed and graded? https://www.lcfpd.org/calendar/artist-bill-sienkiewicz-signing-20220813/ Meet artist Bill Sienkiewicz at the Dunn Museum during an exclusive signing. Visitors will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Bill will sign up to three items per person. No sketches. Museum admission required.
  6. I have been a collector for 35+ years. I am very meticulous with my books (bagged and boarded right when purchased). I started submitting books to be graded several years ago and in small batches. I typically have sent multiple of the same book as well in order to get a feel on how books are graded. My early submissions were as expected and received 9.8's on the books I deems justify that grade (ie not all of them!). Most recently in my last two submissions, really since the company was sold, I am getting grades all over the place but only a few 9.8 grades. This is really getting me upset as I know what I own and know when I should be receiving 9.8s vs 9.4s. You may poo poo the idea that there are really minimal differences between these grades BUT that is not true when it comes to the value of the book. The difference is very significant. Oh and there are no graders notes. So I am left with a feeling that there is a conscious effort to reduce the grades on books. And it is really very upsetting.
