Questions from a new guy (probably a rehash).
SellinMyCollection replied to 2Sunny's topic in Comics General
Joe Peck, I am a somewhat newbie but I have been thinking the same as you for a while. I have around 2,000 books in my collection, rather small for some of the guys here, but I am still buying, primarily older books. I have gone through my collection and new stuff and after analyzing them, I have a small box I have decided to slab over time (as $$$ allows). I look at a couple of things but primarily, what did I pay for the book, what is the estimated grade, and what is the graded price. I hear a LOT of if it that isnt worth more than $200, no need to grade, but I dont get the math. I have an AMS 151 in high grade (9+ per grade my comic in boards), slabbed value around $168. I paid ~$2. Raw value is around $60-70. CnP plus grading puts me at ~$52. Raw sale (I wont sell it) I make ~$50. Slab it and sell it at the Avg price of $160 and I make ~$100, keep it 10 more years and maybe more. Note: if the comic is at the max and is moving down, all of this is mute. Like a HOT new release with spec pricing, which may tank. Now with my personal newbie thoughts, every comment here is 100% valid based on their experience that may be more valuable than mine, There is no 1 comment answer. Flipper vs collector, short term vs long term, reader vs seller. PLEASE, someone smack me down if I am looking at this incorrectly. M -

I need some feedback from everyone. I have a comic from 70's and its a 9.4-9.6, near mint, I paid $6. Solid corners, no spine ticks I can find, but I see a couple of things I "question", but dont think they will drop the grade ( I am not a pro grader). 9.2 is $65 Raw value is $5. Graded value is currently $110 for a 9.6 ( 30 day sales on Fleaboy are $107 and $110 for 9.6). (Oh a 9.8 is $240 but I dont think my copy gets there) CnP is ~$15 and grading ~$30 (please correct me)+ $5 shipping if I send in 20 books, both ways. This puts me at $56, and this book looks to increase over the next 5 years, BUT may stay at the same value. I am long term, not looking to sell the book in the next 3 years. Grade it or not? Fictional comic: Fantastic Captain Bat Girl #2 I would LOVE your feedback! Thanks!

Last one tonight. I bought this from my LCS to read WAY before I collected or new what collecting was. Posting this because of the staples. Owner loved to staple comics to “protect” them. I have .15 in this but wondered how the staples affect this comic. I have it at 5.0 -6.0 if you ignore staples, but 2.0 as is. Would LOVE your feedback.

Working on my older FF collection and trying to determine the grade of some items. This one up for professional feedback. Thanks for viewing.

PEM GS X-men 1
SellinMyCollection replied to SellinMyCollection's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Thanks for the feedback. At the price I was looking at I would take a chance even without back and interior pics. Someone may have gotten a good deal but I cant risk 2K+ without more details. Appreciate everyone here! -
Hi all, not a typo. Please ESTIMATE a GSX 1. I am looking at purchasing this and wanted some help from you guys. Pictures arent great, but lets say its a 3.0 - 4.0. Then theres that top right corner (or lack of). I have no idea how much this would effect the grade. Wish I had better pics, but I dont. I appreciate ANY feedback

Motor City Rob, Thanks for viewing. With Work, this dropped off my radar. Just FYI, I brushed to scratch (also known as a cat hair) off .... -
Blunting on corners, worse on bottom right. Bottom edge has some issues. 2 Edge ticks. Thoughts? Thanks for viewing.

Keep geting 404 uploading, hopefully that’s enough. -
Another learning book. I have at at FN/VF 7.0 with CnP. 3-49 spine ticks but corner blunting. I see some top and bottom blunting. Thoughts appreciated. Not high value just me trying to learn. Thanks

Ok, ythis not perfect but I am resting my mid grading. Needs CnP. Corner blunting, spine ticks, color fading. I have this at 5.0 (fine). MAYBE 6.0 with CNP. It’s not worth grading but PERFECT getting feedback. Thanks

Apprecite the feedback. Can I get some detail so I can learn. I see the scratch on the right which puts me at 9.4. What else do you see. Thanks -
All, I bought these 28ish years ago. Read them then bagged and boarded them. Been there ever since. What do you think? Black covers are tough. Gonna post all 6 issues over the next 2 days for your thoughts. last Ronin. Thanks for looking.
