  1. What you are saying reminds me of myself when I started out. I started early (late 90's) but when I really started going again around 2004, I had a mental block of $500. I could afford more (and certainly a $2K piece is just 4 $500 pages) but mentally I couldn't spend that much on a piece. I can't remember what did it but I eventually overcame that mental block. I think the one factor was the actual value of the page. After all, it's a no brainer to spend $1K when the page is worth $1.5K. So.. if you can afford $500, you can afford $2k if you really like it. It's just four $500 pages. It doesn't sound like you only buy one $500 page a year so you can afford $2K at one time. It's a mental block. That you have to figure out how to brea. And yes, I subscribe to buy what you like, so I can't answer your questions bout bigger name artist and less content vs less famous artist and better content. Really depends what you like, and what kind of value you think the page has. Malvin
  2. A bump that the Morrison Animal Man page and the Zeck Punisher Commission is ending tomorrow. The scans, links and current prices are: 1. Morrison Animal Man Ouija Board Scene - $299 2. Zeck Punisher Commission - $699 The ebay link is: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?item=326039201753&rt=nc&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197&_ssn=emvee1 If these don't sell at the opening prices, feel free to contact me as I will sell them 15% off from the ebay price to boards. Malvin
  3. Thanks for the kind words. A nudge that two of my 6 items are ending tomorrow. One of the items (Ron Frenz Spiderman Sketch cover) with a buy it now that I listed on Thursday also sold! The 2 items ending are: 1. Mark Martin Gnatrat vs Wolverine 2. David Boswell Reid Fleming sketch One of them has a bid too! (yay for me) Lets see if I can insert the ebay images here: The ebay link again: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?item=276364381535&rt=nc&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l170197&_ssn=emvee1 Thanks for looking Malvin

David Boswell Reid Fleming sketch 5. Ron Frenz Spiderman and MJ sketch cover 6. Steve McNiven Wolverine Link to ebay auctions Thanks for looking Malvin
  5. I just uploaded 2 more pieces: 1. Spawn Issue 75 page by Capullo and Miki 2. Jay Anacleto Power Girl Cover (AH! Homage) CAF Link Malvin
  6. Hi Folks, I uploaded some Batman related art to my CAF: 1. A Kelley Jones Batman vs. Solomon Grundy Commissio 2. This one is odder. It's original art related to the Batman: The Animated Series. It's not from the comic book. It's not animation art. There isn't even Batman in it. But it's the art for the background buildings in the press kit they used to sell the show! The art is by Ted Blackman Link to CAF Recent Uploads (since they are in different galleries) Thanks for looking Malvin
  7. Is there really any negotiation though? Isn't it just a function of the value of your total consignment? One may be an awesome negotiator, but if the items are only worth the minimum (be it $5K or $10K). I don't think they will move from their list prices. Your only leverage is that you will chose another auction house. And again, at $10K or so, I don't think they will care. Malvin
  8. What kind of Maroon buys from HA and sells at CLINK? It's supposed to be the other way! Malvin
  9. Here is a lazy reply https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerydetailsearch.asp?aty=9&gcat=614 Malvin
  10. I also HOPE that theory is correct. Our hobby is "one of one" because there is only one original page, but there are a lot of substitutes, i.e. unless you are fixated on a specific page, there are other pages from the same writer/artist team from that issue (or issues) with the superhero in costume and in action. Malvin
  11. I'm guessing that it may be a mess or hassle to pay the artist to do that. Malvin
  12. Just got back from my local big show (FanExpo). I didn't get a lot this year but still had fun. I got: 1. A Joshua Swaby Scarlett from GI Joe Commission 2. A Travis Mercer Green Arrow Pinup 3. A Max Dunbar Young Justice Cover Link to recent CAF uploads Thanks for looking Malvin
  13. Yeah, it sounds like you should start your PayPal claim now if it is still within the claim window. Good luck Malvin
  14. I've never bought art from them but I'm seeing social media posts that some artists are posting they are no longer with Cadence. Malvin
  15. New collectors who make a big splash as a whole are less common to begin with Those that stay and those that disappear about both less common. Malvin
  16. I think I know who you are talking about. Was it by chance Batman covers? Over the years I've seen some new collectors making big buys then disappearing. Of course there are also new collectors who make big splashes and keep on going. Malvin
  17. I've been there. Heck I am there. I just ignored it I love the OA, just selling it when I didn't need the money (and therefore nothing to put it in) didn't make sense to me. I try to trim/optimize/refine my collection, but each year I think it's still a net spend for me. Malvin
  18. Yeah, I thought that IG1 page was low'ish too. Same with the Starlin Captain Marvel 25 page for around 5K. It wasn't super content but $5k seems low'ish. Malvin
  19. That's awesome! Not a great analogy but sort of like a con sketch/commission that was later re-used as cover. Congrats again. Malvin
  20. I still might change 1 entry but here is what I selected from 2023 acquisitions https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerybestofyr.asp?yr=2023&gcat=614 Thanks for looking Malvin
  21. I think in some cases, the pagers were not for sale, just in someone's collection and he was shopping it around and then would try to buy if someone bit. Malvin
  22. I use to do that when I started collecting. Even then it was a nice to have and not a must have. So I would include the published page in the mylar with the art. It's alot harder now that I have ~1,000 pieces So now, I'm probably restricting to covers, I might get a cheap reader copy of any OA I have. I tried to buy a couple of omics the other day because I have the cover OA but I didn't buy them because they were't cheap enough. Malvin
  23. Yes, there was definitely a thrill in the hunt, especially with the pages with no scans and I have to flip through the book and describe the first panel. Anticipating an art drop (before that term was defined) when you knew artists he repped worked on a book and he would eventually update the website was also "fun" There are probably more but pages I bought from Spencer back in the day include: 1. My JR Daredevil Man Without Fear pages that I bought during his annual sales (at 2 different years since I could only afford one at a time back then) https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=42681 https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=42680 2. Almost all my George Perez Brave and the Bold pages (The Batman splash was via auction, the rest via his per issue art drops) https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=56109 3. Andrea DiVito Young Avengers pages where it was revealed Patriot got his powers from MGH (had to wait for a sale until I thought it was worth it) https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=469402 https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=469403 There are probably more but the above comes to mind! Malvin
  24. The filter is the year updated, you can activate it for the best of and turn it off after. You have to turn it on during though. Malvin
