  1. A couple of fairly common books arrived today and I was slightly disappointed with both and he used to be such a strict grader until he started submitting books to CGC. This one had Mico-Chamber paper in it, which seems a little weird. Sounds like a book cracked out of the slab to me. Not quite VF as advertised. The first OAAW book I owned five years ago. Hard to complain with the prices I only paid and he is normally a really good seller. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose on e-bay.
  2. :applause: Very nice and I love that cover. I think I have five copies but none like that Beauty.
  3. I just inspected my GIC 133 again and I think you are right about it looking better then a VF+. It has just a tiny tiny spine stress mark near the top staple and the BRC isn't really razor sharp like the other three corners. I think your copy is a bit nicer. I still haven't submitted a book to CGC so it's hard for me to predict a grade although I've seen slabbed 9.0's not as nice looking. Here are a few recent BA arrivals. Both of these beauties are thanks to Greggy. A couple of Furys a good friend on e-bay was selling and the prices were too cheap to pass up. I don't understand the Sgt Fury books and I read every word of my comics including Stan's Soap Box and I've read that Sgt Fury won the best War Comic book award from about 1967 to the early seventies. Do you guys think that was just Marvel fever and why didn't OAAW or GIC win any of those awards when they are so much more popular today? I'm not a Sgt Fury hater by no means and they have some awesome covers and it's the prices you can pick them up for that's interesting to me. I have a VF+ Sgt Fury # 14 on the way that I only paid 10.00 for and from the same auction Lizards2 won a VF/NM 23 for the same price. Any thoughts gentlemen?
  4. Awesome book Jeffro with incredible looking gloss and colors. (thumbs u Besides 244 my favorite 48/52 pager of the run. Very nice pick-up you lucky devil
  5. :applause: Kudos and a big Thank You to Kimik for an awesome Double cover. Lightning fast shipping and great packaging. (thumbs u Always a pleasure Ryan, fay
  6. I accept your punishment but who would give them to me? The only member I can think of nearby would be Greggy and I would have to pass. He's too big and I would prefer you with your bum thumb. (thumbs u
  7. I wanted to give members an update and I just sent BigFiver69 his funds for the slab he was so kind to hold for me. Thank you very much Shep!! Frederic has some other plans for the books in our deal or is just being nice to me. I didn't contact him because of these plans he mentioned and I don't really want to speak for him. Either way I am very sorry I had to break my word and delay payment to Shep and waste Frederic's time. I hope I haven't tarnished my name when it comes to buying and members can still sell to me with confidence.
  8. A very true statement and especially if you are hunting for HG slabs. I was comparing notes after last night's e-bay auctions with my one of my favorite war buddies and I just about felt guilty about how little I paid for the books I won. My standards are alot lower then most of yours and I don't mind a strict VF/VF+ on late SA with nice inside pages. (thumbs u E-bay is insane right now and I couldn't help myself and broke one of my rules bidding on an unknown seller, but for only 3.40 for an OAAW 240 that was supposed to be a VF/NM it was hard to pass up. The seller had big scans and I would say it was only a VF.(I hope!! ) Here's the book. Sorry it should be in the BA section. I hope I'm not putting a curse on this book posting an e-bay win before it's in my hot little hands. Darn you Dan...I never thought about that until you mentioned counting e-bay wins before their arrival.
  9. Nice book Larry and you beat me to it. Oh well... it couldn't go to a nicer War book collector. (thumbs u
  10. There's another cover I've never seen before and it's a beauty. (thumbs u I think Russ Heath must have had a strong dislike for Communism or he really liked the flamethrower. I wonder if Buttock or Dan won any of those Atlas books up for auction last night. How about showing us a few recent Atlas wins Dan.
  11. :applause:  A big Kudos and Thank You to the Big Guy Greggy for two awesome books graded to perfection and perfect packaging. Canada Post tried their hardest to lose the package and my luck is a changin' (thumbs u Thanks again for everything Greg. (worship) fay
  12. WOW!!! Even if this thread was DC only this book would be an incredible exception. Beautiful Book Mick and a Russ Heath cover. :applause: I see why Dan has re-named this thread but he has the name wrong and I think Fay would fit in nicely and I promise I would take good care of our books Mick. (thumbs u Which one of you sneeky snipers beat me out of the OAAW 68 last night? Look at that incredible blue on that cover.
  13. ?? Is this thread for DC war books only? It doesn't say so in the subject line. Someone correct me if non-DC books don't belong here. Jack Jack, I've seen Atlas, Marvel and a few other companies posted here and it is mostly DC but not restricted to DC only. I believe I am correct that other companies' books are welcome. Hope you had a good Christmas and New Years.
  14. Thank you guys. (thumbs u The OFF 94 is a real Beauty and I would call it a VF+ or better. (thumbs u The OAAW 98 I bought as a VG/F and I think Keith maybe under graded this one with a small stain besides Rock's right elbow and a very very faint Sub crease nearly down the whole front of the cover. Still a very solid book in hand.
  15. Thanks Mike, A few more out of the same package that I nervously waited for as more time went on. It was well worth the wait and I have a few more to show off and will try to show some restraint like Andy or AdamStrange and post them in the future.
  16. HAPPY NEW YEAR to my fellow war buddies. Those last two books posted were awesome. Great pick-ups!! :applause: The Postal System was moving a little slow and I finally received a package I had been waiting for from Sugar Land, Texas. This first book was a biltch to find in the right grade for me. Another Russ Heath thing of Beauty. What a package and all of the books had incredible inside pages with that nearly erotic smell of a well cared for comic.
  17. This thread has been a little slow lately and I finally received a pretty decent SSWS 151 with that incredible smell inside these awesome white pages. I bought it from a very well trusted e-bay seller as a VF+ and I know the scan I borrowed from the seller isn't the greatest but I am happy with his grading. One more along with another eight SA DC war books that I will post later in the right section. Another VF+ for only 10.00.
  18. I would like to add my name, Fazybones to the list for a couple of deals that I didn't or couldn't follow through on. I'm very sorry to BigFiver69 and Frederic We had a week or more of snow and ice and I was involoved in two car accidents. It's a Company car and I have to have it repaired as soon as possible so I can drive it to work next week and I exchange it for a new one in March.I spent a small fortune on Cab rides as well working close to sixteen hours a day trying to organize snow removal at work. To make matters worse on Christmas day we got this same POS car stuck in the snow and my better half had to shovel and push the car until we were completely stuck.During this fiasco he took a very bad fall on the hard ice breaking his wrist and doing more damage to his healing hands. He was supposed to return to work soon after about a year and half off while his injuries healed from a near fatal accident on our Container Terminal. Our Christmas involved a very long cold walk to the Hospital and then hours waiting in emergency. When he was sort of fixed up we just went home and I ruined another Christmas for his family. Can you say LOSER!!! I'm very sorry Brian and Frederic and I know it won't happen again. I would like to apologize to all members and I take my buying of comics very seriuosly and if I continue to keep buying I am going to have to curb the way I buy books. No more paying on paydays. Thanks for listening/reading.
  19. A sweet Kudos to Thirdgeenham for two awesome slabs with incredible packaging and lightning fast shipping. Thanks for everything this year Andy (worship) Merry Christmas to you and your family!! (thumbs u fay
  20. I love that OFF 13 and when Mick posted his that was the first time I had seen that cover. Definitely adding that book to my enormous want list. If only I discovered this hobby twenty years ago.
  21. Photobucket is acting up on me and I can't get rid of the ugly "IMG" on the bottom corners. Here are a few that didn't show up at all or disappeared. [/img] [/img]
  22. Hey Fay, can you scan that War Collector's Program for me to see? Thanks! Andy I'm sorry for the delay and I have been battling the flu and a bad cold and here are some pictures of these incredible Annuals from the SDCC and they make for some awesome reading. Here are a few pictures I picked out. [/img] [/img] [/img] [/img] As soon as I seen this drawing I had to take a picture for Karma23. [/img] Here is a character we all know and love. (thumbs u [/img] Thanks again Bill and these books I will always treasure and I sure envy any of you that have attended this incredible dinner.
  23. Two slabs that arrived yesterday and the OAAW 180 I once owned and sold on these boards. I love flippers and it's back home where it belongs. Both books have a few back cover flaws and my total bill including shipping was just under 40.00 $ and I can hardly wait to set them free and do some cracking. Sorry Jeff, still no scanner... 2009 I'm buying one for sure. (thumbs u [/img] [/img]
  24. Some more BA Beauties that arrived today. (thumbs u [/img] [/img]
