  1. I’m kinda geeky with my collection; I tape the corresponding 90s Impel trading cards to the rear of my first appearance books. I forgot to remove several of them on one submission, I received them back in a bag with board with my graded books.
  2. I would easily recommend having this cleaned and pressed. It would greatly improve the appearance and desirability of the book.
  3. A decent looking copy, and if not for that top right corner and lower left…. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!
  4. I’m around 6.5 to maybe 7.0 if the grader got lucky recently.
  5. As is, I’m around a 4.0 - 4.5, might clean and press to 4.5-5.0.
  6. Hey gang, what do you think? I’m super duper frugal about sending books in, considering this one. Your input may sway my decision! Thanks!
  7. My first comics were from two of these - the ROTJ and BSG three packs started me off on this crazy path! My sister had the Smurfs three pack.
  8. Do you have examples of similar “printing mishaps?”
  9. I made a bulk buy of books, and initially thought this was just a torn cover, no big deal. Sorting through later, I went to toss it in the dollar bin pile and noticed that the corner was not MIA, but uninked. This book was released a few months prior to ASM 194, and we know about the nifty yellow variant. What say you? Anybody else have one like this?
  10. I updated my room with some better shelves to allow for more books to be displayed. Those filled up quickly, and now I need another room to add shelves to…. (Yes, I believe that James Gunn will bring G’Nort to the big screen, hence a gajillion copies of JLI 10…)
  11. Your community is different than mine, that much is apparent. You still haven’t copped to your own comment, which is what I asked for.
  12. This would clean up pretty nice, but 7.0 would be a surprise. With the color breaks on the spine, the damaged back cover, I’m thinking you’re around a six if the grader is in a good relationship. It’s nicer than mine at any rate!
  13. Thanks. I was floating on a cloud. The FF49 was real, but the intended book was not. A total of three fakes in my bundle, and if you guys are catching the story from other sources, that seems to be this guys MO. He throws in some legit books, some decent stuff, others included ASM 365 (not my thing but people dig that for potential), Marvel Premiere 47, some 12 cent Thor and Avengers filler. He has done this with a handful of others in the area, so I’m taking some comfort in that, as weird as that sounds. My wife isn’t upset with me, and that’s a huge burden lifted. So yeah, let’s all learn a lesson I guess, and inspect the snot out of your next CGC grail purchase. I suspect this will change how I buy books from now on, and others as well. Inspect the snot out of your next purchase gang. Check the lower seals especially. He/they are pretty good at this it would seem.
  14. And Taro, what is that exactly? Go ahead, apologize in front of the group, and think before you make accusations next time.
  15. Just to clarify, and to thank those above who defended me, yes, I bought this cover mixed in with other books, such as FF 49, and “some CA pages”. When I was driving home after the sale I looked closer and was super stoked to find the cover. Holy heck, the scammer made it convincing. While a loupe is on my “next to buy” list, it looked pretty real. I am not big on GA, and didn’t notice the size discrepancy on my own, but when laid upon another CA book of similar vintage…. Upon close inspection I had pointed out to me that the printing style wasn’t period appropriate as well. Forgive me for me quiet in all this. It’s: a) embarrassing b) costly c) deflating Again, thank you to those of you that defended me. I don’t have much credit to my name, but I appreciate you.
  16. I had a few people over to look at it last night, everyone there noted that the scent is amazing. Almost a shame to slab, it’s awesome to know what America smells like!
  17. I appreciate hearing the ideas, thanks. I would like to explore some options, but keeping this isn’t likely. It’s a grail, holy spoon it’s a grail, but it isn’t MY grail. It needs to go to someone that is going to appreciate it. I am thinking about having it slabbed, just for authentication purposes. In a perfect world, I would like to keep the pages together instead of splitting them, because that’s only proper. But then they won’t display as nicely if slabbed together…. Those individual art panels are pieces of history…. There are a number of things to consider. I sent a message through CGC customer service to Matt Nelson, so hopefully a few questions can be answered, or at least options discussed. If you were a buyer/trader, would you prefer the pages slabbed inside the cover at a premium even if you didn’t need them? As in two options, a cover by itself, or a cover with a few pages inside for ten percent more? I realize the cover is the big part here. Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  18. I have been a comic lover since I was a kid. I’ve rarely been in the presence of a Timely Book. I’m SA and Bronze through and through. Golden books were just too expensive for me to even do more than stare at. Imagine when I found this out in the wild. When I say wild, I don’t mean a book store. If anything, let it inspire you to never stop looking
  19. Just to clarify, I made a two second meme for this, it isn’t in the book like this!!!!!
  20. Finally have a legitimate entry from the era, and not the Bronze Age May I present my sad copy of:
  21. Yeah, that’s where my heart is leaning too. Thanks for saying that. I need solid advice that respects the book for future collectors.
  22. Most of the book is MIA. I have four individual leafs, and the cover. No staples. Not brittle, but the paper is yellowed from time/storage neglect. They are pretty nice aside from the paper color tint.
  23. I know, it’s barely a comic book, but it’s a piece of history. If submitted after a bit of cleaning and pressing, should I aim for having them slabbed in the cover for an INC or separated into four PGs and 1 CVR? What is higher in your mind?
