  1. Just seen this topic and figured I’d share my bit of history with this collection and what I’ve bought from him as well
  2. I would be very happy with a 5.0 but do you think they’ll send it back with a green label or blue label ?
  3. Just purchased a JIM 85 ungraded I’d like to have the book graded but I am afraid of getting a green label so I would like some input from some people who’ve had graded books in similar situations as this one so the cover is detached from the top staple the rest of the book is completely attached and firmly the cover is also attached to the bottom staple firmly it also has some marvel chipping as well I believe the book to be a 4.0 possibly 4.5 it has not been pressed which I will be having done soon but I needed a good opinion on what label do you guys think it would come back
  4. Not sure about how the process is done but I’ve heard about people being so damn good at restoring comic books that cgc can never even tell it’s happened these people have been restoring books since the 70’s some before that I’ve seen some of this work before and I have to say it’s truly amazing work but most of these people don’t really work on comic books they work more on novels and really really old books very rarely they’ll work on a comic and it’s very costly from what I’ve heard but it is 100% possible
  5. Maybe I’m too stubborn to see 181 worth the prices it’s going for right now I just feel with that type of money there’s just better books to buy like a af15 or asm 1 FF1 FF5 or if you can afford the DC goldage keys in mid to high grades which are just books that has always passed me by because they are just simply more then I can afford I wish I could’ve bought them tho I do agree that 181 has been very well undervalued for a long time but now I feel it’s over valued which to me isn’t really fair to real collectors not just people who’s buying and selling them I sold mine because I wanted better books to dump off when shows and movies come out in order to in hopes buy a high grade AF15
  6. Defiantly not sour my dude I sold 5 of them at over 9k a piece so trust me I love the fact that people are spending stupid money on a book that’s easy to find
  7. I can 100% agree with you on this it’s 100% a great investment but not at the prices it’s at today as of last month it has become way too much money to see any significant gains at this point at least from what I can see today is just a sellers market buyers are harshly over paying but most of them are okay with it the good thing about today is the internet has helped out plenty of buyers and sellers
  8. My advise is pretty clear only dumb people spend 13k on a book that literally everyone has hints the reason why it was always cheap once everything goes back to normal that book in a 8.5 will never be 13k again at least not for a very long time
  9. Only time can tell I gave my advise 181 is too much of a hype book I don’t see it worth the money people are spending on them it’s pretty dumb to give 13’500 for a 8.5 181 put that money somewhere else wolverine is a crappy investment we’ve seen climbs like this when the movie was released it dropped back down my advise is not to be a sucker and go buy into the hype books specially ones like 181 and UFO4 only dumb people give 3k on a modern book printed in the millions 😂 my advise was to buy low run hard to find high grade books like FF5 has always been very hard to find very low printing and nearly impossible to find in a high grade meaning 8.5 and up and time has proven that book has always been worth ridiculous amounts of money and it’s a book every comic book collector wants not a book that everyone has because I’m pretty sure everyone on this cgc chat board has a 181 im pretty damn sure high grade as well because we all bought them before they blew up that is if you haven’t sold it by now so don’t listen to people who will give 13k on a book that’s just not worth it unless you plan on dumping it when wolverine eventually shows up at some point in the mcu
  10. If the 181 run was shorter I can see it being worth the 13500 that a 8.5 goes for now in days but that type of ridiculous price is not gonna last long people ain’t that stupid to keep paying up for something that’s literally never stopped appearing on eBay once people realize that books like JIM83 and AF15 are much more harder to find they’ll understand that wolverines value isn’t worth no where near what the others in rare categories are and I never said books like Ronald McDonald but I guess if that’s a book you like then that’s what you like the books I meant is low numbered major key issues like asm annual 1 or asm 1 2 3 4 or books like daredevil 1 or maybe even something like a avengers 1 those are books that will always carry weight behind them unlike 181 where you can go to nearly any comic collector an ask if they have one and they all will say yes I have multiple 181’s I know a gentleman with 26 of them so believe me when I say the books value and rarity isn’t they’re action comics 1 just sold for 3 million reason why is because it’s rare and the grade is even more rare
  11. My best advise for this is not to buy into the hype books one of them being is hulk 181 with a print run in the 250k to possibly 500k and was printed in a decade that spawned many collectors the book is just simply not that rare cgc census alone reports close to 15k of them with hundreds if not thousands of them surfaced on eBay raw in the past 4 months not including the amount that’s been sent over to grading services that’s been ridiculously backed up so if you’re looking for something to hold some value and be proud of owning look for low numbers and high grades that’s the way it works the least amount of the book you want exist the better it is in value
  12. I can’t say I remember the cover of them but if you’d like to sell the UFO4 in a poly bag please do pm me and maybe we can work out a deal
  13. I don’t believe so I’ve seen plenty of comics that’s been graded and on the cover it says poly bag removed
  14. I’ve seen a few sell from auctions and live sales on Instagram as far as rarity I can’t tell you all I know is there’s a lot of asm 300’s i think the MJ insert made up about 10% of the run then you’d be looking at still a lot of them 🤷🏻‍♂️
  15. I sent in a wolverine limited series 1 unsigned 2 months ago and sent it to cgc to get signed by Rubinstein and Claremont with a Remarque and it comes back double signed by Rubinstein and Claremont does this now ruin the value of the book. ? Because of a mistake being double signed at the same time ?
  16. Yes I do I’d like to keep it as a keep sake but there’s a lot of money involved now but I wonder if I’d ever be able to replace it
  17. I’m submitting a ultimate fallout 4 in a polybag I got a dumb question for it if I send it to ccs for a quick press and go to cgc will it say poly bag removed on the label or not ?
  18. About 3 months ago I had a chance to buy a 9.0 white pages for 5k now a 9.0 goes around 13k to 15k my question is does anyone think it’s gonna go back down has jumps like this always happened in the comic book market and come back down ? Should I wait or should I jump on the 181 bandwagon as I have just started collecting anyone who knows how the market reacts to this would really help me making a decision on buying one id like to know if this has happened before and after the hype died out that the book went back down to previous or near previous prices
  19. I’m in south Florida in the U.S and I’m fine waiting awhile for someone who’s amazing at what they do i would also pay extra for expedited services books are just piling up at this point and they’re worth to much to leave them like that
  20. anyone who knows a great presser and cleaner please let me know as ccs has just been horrible with cleaning and pressing lately I’d like someone who truly knows what they’re doing and who can do a great job on a lot of high end books that need a good cleaning and press any info on a good guy who knows what they’re doing would be greatly appreciated
  21. What you have there is a untouched grail that has not been trimmed in any way shape or form from what I can see if it has been done it’s probably been done a very very long time ago it looks to me like it’s all original awesome book brother defiantly should send in for a grading
  22. I have not received the book yet but as soon as it gets in I will update the post with very detailed pictures and thank you for viewing the post and sharing you’re opinion
  23. I Just purchased a asm 129 6.5 with white pages I was curious about its grading notes so I purchased them these are the notes CGC Grader Notes light scuff left top of spine light spine stress lines to cover small, multiple crease right bottom of front cover breaks color It looks like it has a decent spine roll but cgc did not notate that ? So would this be a good candidate for a grade bump with a good press and clean or not. I ask the question because I have never done this before so I can’t tell if it is or not any help will be greatly appreciated
