I just want to say "tell us WTF you agreed upon TO THE LETTER" You took it to the people and now the people want to hear the conclusion. You can't just use us for your own satisfaction and leave us hanging. That's not how a community works. As far as I'm concerned you are both on my probation list until time stands still if you don't cough up the details. Don't bother buying from me, nor will I buy from you. I'm happy that you came to an S & M type happy conclusion but someone give me my time back for 70 pages of selling research wasted by members agreeing in private that they aren't despicable to try to escape being put on the probation list in the end. I'm hoping Yannis is in the process of working out a secondary deal to make Matt happy in some other way to make up for this. 8milereacharound has always in the past protested strongly against the Probation thread, since his close buddy CS is one of the top offenders on that list, with no hope of coming off. Now his the head heritec at the witch hunt, screaming to add Yannis to the Hall of Shame every 2nd post he makes. I'm not defending Yannis, what was done was done poorly & needs some measure of additional compensation on Matt's part, but as far as I know he has always prior to this been a stand-up guy. Just sayin'. I agree Jon. The probation list seems reasonable but the Hall of Shame is for members who repeatedly let others down or commit a major swindle. If Matt gets his downpayment back than Yannis is only guilty of selling a book promised to someone else and lying about the reason. If Yannis had some doubt about Matt's ability to pay and/or was under pressure because of serious personal issues that may partial explain why he acted poorly and out of character. 8milemax seems to feel that Russ is lonely in the Hall of Shame and wants to send him a playmate. Im not the only who has said this. At first people were talking probation list , but what can yannis do to get off the list? I'm also a batman collector and I know how it feels to go after a book you want so bad that you can't wait until you get it. If that had happen to me I would of been really pissed about it. The probation list includes at least one buyer who agreed to buy an expensive Golden Age book and then reneged on the deal. That deal is history, it ended very poorly as well. And there he sits...in the Hall of Shame. You are probably right, though, this isn't probation list material, it's law suit material. You've got a pretty cut and dried case of breach of contract. Now you've got a buyer who was improperly denied the item that he contracted for and was performing for in good faith. There's no valid legal reason for denying Matt this book or failing to perform properly under the agreement. How long will it take Matt to find a replacement copy? How much will that replacement copy cost Matt? What if it takes him 2 years and costs him a great deal more? If everyone REALLY wanted to make this right then the deal that was struck for the book needs to be undone and Matt needs to be given the chance to buy this book right now. Matt's been damaged, clear and simple, and frankly I don't think it's a bad thing for everyone to know about it. You're talking about two different things, though - the Probation List & the Hall of Shame. As speedy says, the probation list is supposed to be a temporary position - with the end result being that at some point you'll make good on your commitments, and be taken off the list again. That this only happens on rather rare occasions has nothing to do with the purpose or nature of the list, but rather the fly-by-night nature of a lot of the Probation list members. The Hall of Shame, however, is a permanent position - it's a scarlet letter, forever signifying that you really are a top-grade douchenozzle. Once you're on, you stay on. Putting Yannis on the Probation list makes no sense - the book is sold, so he wouldn't be able to make it up to the OP. Adding him to the Hall of Shame makes perfect sense, though. Makes perfect sense to me.

From what I got so far from this thread is that both had an agreement and the seller didn't keep his end of the bargain. In your first post you mentioned Matt worked overtime and sold books locally to come up with the additional funds just to find out the seller sold the book he was raising money to pay off???....sorry that's not acceptable in my book. I have no horse in this race but it seems that the seller needs to make good with the buyer somehow. The probation list is in place to protect both sellers and buyers.. Ya i vaugly remember talking about a coverless book but no money was presented and i passed on it. It happens alot, Can just maybe i might have not done any wrong theres isnt some motive behind this action seriously. I never thought this would go so far. Me and yannis talked theres nothing that can be done so i guess it is what it is. I am mad but seriously what can i do? Put him on the probation list!
