  1. Whisp, the Epson web site stopped support on this device at Windows XP. It might be that the device is simply recognized automatically by Vista. In addition, the TWAIN driver may be provided by some other photo-recognition software. But if I had a problem with the device under Windows 7, Epson won't be of much help - and I think that goes to the heart of the previous poster's question. Larry
  2. Many older scanners that were designed for Windows XP are probably not supported under Windows 7. Newer scanners that were designed for Windows Vista are more than likely supported under Windows 7. It is entirely up to the manufacturer as to whether they want to devote the resources necessary to develop and provide drivers (or not). If you want to know if one of the devices you have currently attached to your system will work if you upgrade to Windows 7, I'd suggest you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. This software scans your system and reports on hardware and software compatibility. For example, I found that my Epson Perfection 1200U scanner is not supported. Upon checking the Epson site, I found the following FAQ entry: So, the answer to your question depends on what you have or what you are looking for. Larry

  4. The Sharpness option is available when you use the HP Scan wizard. Abso - friggen - lutely! HP = mostly great technology often hindered by horrendous software. Larry
  5. I'm always the helpful tech support geek... Of course, I know there's something in those HP drivers that is just not quite right. When I used my old Epson Perfection 1200U flatbed to scan a comic, it would generate a 140KB file. However, the OfficeJet L7680 generates a 390KB file for the same book - with the same settings. That's had me stumped for the past few months. Larry
  6. Roy, Did you ever take a look at HP's support site? If your 8250 is the Scanjet model, this patch may help: Blue Tint Patch for HP Scanning Software Larry
  7. And yes, on the HP L7680, there is that wonderful "flash of light" at the bottom of the scan. I figure this is where the LED stops to turn around but the software continues to "read" for just a few moments too long... Larry
  8. Especially when he has to calculate his "discount" price!!
  9. Well...to be fair, unless buttheadcollectibles chimes in again, it's pretty much run it's course, no? Well maybe the original thread has, but all of the subordinate ones (6 at last count) could surely run for at least a dozen more pages... Larry
  10. Uncle Ben. but with an asterik. No, really, that's a
