  1. So many Daredevils in the last Comic Connect auction. There are a ton of nice books to be had.
  2. For Daredevils, just the 86. Of course, even with what seems like hundreds of SA/BA Daredevils in the next ComicConnect auction there's no #86 there. I could be waiting for a while On my list too. I can't remember every seeing that one offered anywhere. I'm making very small progress on my list, just chipping away here and there where I can find them. The exchange rate and higher shipping costs are slowing me down more than I thought also. It's at the point where it's getting a bit silly. There hasn't been a single CGC graded copy above 9.0 for sale through a GPA dealer in 3 years. The last non-pedigree 9.4 was sold in 2009. Also, the same 12 books in 9.4 and above have been in the census since October 17, 2011. The only change was one of the 9.4s being upgraded to 9.6.

  4. And then sold mine for half of what he paid. Definitely weird.
  5. It's higher than I expected (I was hoping for $300), but, in hindsight, I guess I didn't really know what to expect. It's the first time this book has sold in 9.8 and is the only one currently available. The next one graded/sold will be interesting. That was mine. I offered it at $462 or thereabouts, and someone made me an offer for $375, and I thought that was reasonable, so I took it. I have two more candidates that will be making their way in soon. You sold one privately? There was another copy on eBay recently that came in at $218. The census is way behind, apparently. It's still just got my copies (the one I own and the one I sold)
  6. Those are all favorites. Very cool books.
  7. Yeah I believe there's two of them last time I checked. The first one was... 2010? And then another came along a few years ago. It reached its 'full potential' a few years ago I'm told I'm actually fuzzy on it all. The first was a new book and then the second one was an upgraded 9.6?

  10. Actually I was unclear above, #7 has one FEWER copy above 9.4. 3 9.6s and 8 9.4s. I've long known #7 was going to be a beast so I'm cool with my 9.2. If a 9.4 ever comes up for sale and I can grab it I'll definitely be unloading the 9.2. I love that book, just not enough to start hoarding high grade copies
  11. It's pretty amazing how tough it is to find #86 in 9.4 or better. There are just 12 copies - 1 9.8, 4 9.6s, and 7 9.4s. For comparison purposes, DD #85 and 87 both have more than 60 copies in the census in 9.4 or better. There are constantly copies of 85 and 87 for sale. All the time. 86? It's been more than three years I just looked and 86 is only slightly easier than #7 (1 more copy in 9.4+), which I've already resigned myself to never being to upgrade. What do you have now Rob? For the 7? I have a 9.2.

  13. I don't even know which one of those to call out. Sick run.

  15. It's fun to see. this thread has been a little dormant for a while so it's great to get some cool books surfacing. As for butting heads, I can compare my own notes pretty easily. I only bid on three. I was the underbidder (minus 1? I don't quite remember.) on the 9.2 (Don and Maggie Thompson copy, I bid maybe... $12,000 on the Voldemort 9.4 at Comic Connect and then won the one I won. The one I picked up is basically a perfect book for me. Like yours, it's got great quality of production. Nothing is really cut off of either book and they're both cut square. So often with DD #1 something is off. It's often miscut and/or miswrapped. As for DDs at auction, we're safe, I think. The only book I need is 86 and I'm already prepared to pay loony money for one if it comes up for sale.
