  1. Yeah, that auction has a fun selection. The DD stuff is great and the FFs of course.
  2. Anyone buy anything cool? There's hardly anything for me to win at this point.
  3. Yeah my list only listed the variants, so I had the same info for the three books in the Stormwatch series proper. I forgot about the Wildcats Aliens cover.
  4. it is ! $52.50 for a raw copy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/301853200201 I bought a big lot of Stormwatch the other day. No #4 but almost everything else was in there. Stormwatch, The Authority, and Planetary fill box after box in my house. My wife thinks its a sickness. There was a time when there were lots of Stormwatch variants. Anybody know which issues had them and if they were printed in equal ratios ? I can't remember...a lot of things. Of the ones I'm collecting there are just three issues with variants- 44 ("watchmen" cover and a Gil Kane cover) V2 #1 (Travis Charest cover) and #5 (Midnighter and Apollo)

  6. The bummer is that there was no #37 in the run I just bought which produced the above books and a few others that are on the way to CGC next week. 37 is going to be a harder book to source. The interest in Midnighter (an active character) might turn the tide for it, but I think v2 #4 is an easier book. The stock on the 37 seems very picky. The #4, even with the black cover, seems more forgiving.
  7. I'm happy to have gotten the 9.8 #4 as quickly as i did, that's for sure. I'd be curious to see what one would sell for.
  8. I've got a standing offer of $200 for a 9.8 #37 if you come away with 2 9.8s. I should offer more as I've already spent that much in buying/grading the 5 other copies. to be fair, I got the grades I kind of expected on all the books, including the #37s. I was hoping to land on the luck side and didn't, on any of them. Oh well. I've got another #4 ready to go that's a sure 9.8 as well, so at some point I'll have one to sell which ought to be interesting.
  9. Sigh, the hunt continues. I've gotten back into trying to score a Stormwatch #37 9.8 (in addition to the new goal of trying to put together a CGC 9.6+ run of all the Ellis Stormwatch stuff.) My first batch of submissions from this quest just came back. Which grades am I disappointed by? Stormwatch 37 9.4 Stormwatch 37 9.6 Stormwatch 37 9.4 Stormwatch 47 9.8 Stormwatch 48 9.8 Stormwatch 49 9.6 Stormwatch v2 #2 9.6 Stormwatch v2 #4 9.8 (I got this one on my first try 1:1 highest graded) Stormwatch v2 #6 9.8 Stormwatch v2 #8 9.6 Stormwatch v2 #10 9.8 The census for Stormwatch 37 is now... 9.8 1 9.6 2 (+1 SS) 9.4 5 I've graded both 9.6s and 3 (3!) of the 9.4s.
  10. They forgot to tell Buscema he was in the book?
  11. Merry Christmas! And to celebrate here's a Daredevil crossover I just picked up
  12. Yeah, it's a bummer. 10% is a significant drag.
  13. Did you notice you are now paying sales tax on not only the purchase price but also the BP and the shipping. The 20% BP has now turned into a 30% BP. I thought, at least in Illinois, that you do not pay sales tax on 'service'. They told me I am wrong. I was not aware of this. Granted I have not bought or won any books for a spell with any grand value. Now I will get out the calculator on my next win or purchase. HA doesn't have an office in Illinois but they do conduct an auction here, hence we are now charged a sales tax. The effect is compounded by the fact that the tax is on the grand total which includes the BP and shipping. They did discuss it with me but they are following the advice of the accountants. I used to love the Sunday night auctions, picking up some cool books at a reasonable price but I now have to pass. The good times are over. How much is the sales tax? Is it enough that you can't just include it in your bidding strategy and still win some books? I don't think I'd have to write Heritage off if they started charging MA state tax. 5% wouldn't make that much of a difference.
  14. Heritage is my #1 source for books by dollar value.
  15. Thanks, in a roundabout way that's a perfect comparison.
  16. Someone got a heckuva bargain on that book. What did it go for? Around 12,500.
  17. It's been a while since I posted in this thread. Here's a small painting I just finished.
  18. Ooooh, 9.6? Nice copy. I'm sure it'll be a beaut. That's a great book.
  19. What's the grade on the Annual #1? I want to know who got the #69
  20. (anyone get anything cool?) I bid on the Daredevil #1 9.4 that went off at ComicConnect, but not too aggressively as it wasn't the best 9.4 to my eyes. It was a great book I would have been happy to own, but... there was a little spine tick that I think would have driven me crazy eventually. Otherwise, I think I've bought some DDs in the 200s. That's about it...
  21. Wow. that's basically a perfect copy. You couldn't square that book off any better with a razor blade.
  22. I'm definitely not getting seller's remorse. I'm psyched about the White Mountain copy and this 9.8 has already paid for that with the whole auction still to go. There are a lot of really nice Daredevils in that CL auction.
  23. Your 69 is running strong Rob It won't be mine for much longer I'm happy with the one I kept too, so it's all good.
  24. If, by some chance, the #86 is NM or better
