  2. Looking forward to the Master List Also stoked to see what you choose for the Rob Art Review Collection I'm excited. I've been doing this Daredevil thing because he's my favorite character and I would never finish anything if I didn't (mostly*) focus. I'm psyched to start looking at some of these other titles. *if you ignore the dozens of copper and modern slabs I have
  3. I'll update here as I get new info. I'm probably going to go up a little past the 1970s when all is said and done. I like some of those 1980s appearances.
  4. Pretty much the entire Marvel Universe is in FF Annual 3 (Reed and Sue wedding)
  5. My list so far (very incomplete!) Amazing Spider-Man 16 9/1/1964 Amazing Spider-Man 18 11/1/1964 journey into mystery 116 5/1/1965 Fantastic Four 39 6/1/1965 Fantastic Four 40 7/1/1965 X-Men 13 9/1/1965 Fantastic Four Annual 3 10/1/1965 Fantastic Four 73 4/1/1968 Avengers 82 11/1/1970 Marvel Two in One 3 5/1/1974 Giant Size Defenders 3 1/1/1975 Iron Man 89 8/1/1976 Ghost Rider 20 10/1/1976 Marvel Team Up 56 4/1/1977 Marvel Two in One 38 4/1/1978 Marvel Team Up 73 9/1/1978 Captain America 234 6/1/1979 Captain America 235 7/1/1979 Captain America 236 8/1/1979 avengers 190 12/1/1979
  6. Returning to the question of buying Daredevil appearances in other titles... do Matt Murdock appearances count? Example: X-Men 13. I'll probably include them as I am excited to be buying some other Silver Age Marvels again anyway. The only Silver Age books I've bought for the past couple of years have been DD....
  7. I had the same two subs at that time. I've been buying those books graded recently and I'm always surprised how much nostalgia I have for the covers.
  8. I'd be happy to fund someone's Deadpool collection right about now if they have something I need.
  9. Interesting stuff. Happy you got a good price on your #4 Rob, #4 is definitely en fuego! As for this statement, "If I get outbid x2 the last GPA sale then that could just mean someone else has been waiting for the book to appear for 4 years like I have." I definitely agree with that scenario. It happens more than we think. Some could think it almost appears to be schilled, or just a hot book all of a sudden....But all it takes is two to Tango if a certain book surfaces at a certain point in time. I don't think you will have to get hosed for a #1 or #7 my man, stay positive - your too close to completion!! I paid $300 less for the #4 than what I had just been outbid at at ComicLink, so... I'll take it. I've seen a few examples over the past couple of years where I've lost out on what I thought were just ridiculous bids. The DD #31 that came up recently blew my mind. There have been others. I'm hoping I don't get clobbered on the #1 and #7. Everything else, at this point, I don't care about. I'm just looking to fill holes with good books and if I pay a dumb price, so be it. With the #1 and #7 I need to pay a price that's not going to make me weep I have faith!
  10. Personally, I can't tell what's going on with prices. Many of the books I'm going for right now are on the tougher end of the spectrum for the past few years (fewer sales relative to the surrounding numbers) so I can't really get a feel for those. If I get outbid at 2x the last GPA sale then that could just mean someone else has been waiting for the book to appear for 4 years like I have. #4 is hot right now, for sure (even though i got a good price) On the other hand, I was happy with what I paid for my #2 and #3 so it's not like I've been seeing the same competition there. What will I end up paying for 9.4 #1? What will I end up paying for a 9.4 (or stopgap 9.2) #7? Beyond what my bank account thinks that's going to be interesting.
  11. I bought a cheap one just to own it. I don't have a good sense of smell but some guys roll their eyes in the back of their heads when they do it, apparently it's that good. Not saying they can't be manufactured, but there is more to the Church pedigree than just penciled codes (and that goes for many pedigrees - many of them have distinctive smells based on how the books were stored - for example, half of the Big Apple Pedigree smells like kerosene because the room the books were stored in smelled like kerosene). You might be able to slip one by a novice but someone who knows their Pedigrees is more likely to catch them. I've had some cheap raw copies in addition to the slabbed copies I've had over the years. The smell is distinctive.
  12. Cool, I'll definitely share what I figure out. I'll likely go into the 1970s so I'll have to sort out a good chunk of the appearances.
  13. Does anyone know of a chronological listing of Daredevil appearances outside of the main title? I'd like to start chasing some of those as well.
  14. I love that cover. Also, gorgeous copy.
  15. It's remarkable how much that well done Netflix show has raised the profile of the character. Thank goodness the stink of that Ben Affleck iteration is finally gone and the character has been done some onscreen justice. -J. I wish it had happened just a little later. I'm afraid this TV show is going to cost me thousands.
  16. I have to agree with you! Here is the back cover. I have the graders notes also...I'm not sure why it's in a 3.0 holder (thumbs u I LOVE books like that. For the price of a 3.0 you get a book that looks MUCH better.
  17. Awesome book. What's are we not seeing to get it all the way down to 3.0? Best 3.0 ever.
  18. all we need is for someone to find me a 9.4 and I'm out of the running
  19. In all seriousness, that copy looks better than the Western Penn 9.4 to me, sooooo.... I'm tempted.
  20. Here ya go Thanks! I would have missed that! I may have to sell some things. don't sell too much
  21. The only thing I'm driving the price up on right now is a handful of Silver/Bronze age Daredevils. Give me a few months and I'll get busy driving up the price on other things...
  22. I love that cover. I wish I had about a kazillion or so dollars laying around here. +1 +2 I might have to actually keep an eye on this one & potentially dip into my "am I buying a Silver age key or another VW?" fund if it stays even close to $1k. Tough to say what it will sell for. I have a sense of what it's worth realistically, but with that cover someone might not be realistic I will bid on it up to a point, for sure.
