  1. The DDs in the ComicLink auction are really strong, for sure. I won the #5 CGC 9.4 and the #84 CGC 9.6 (Mass copy) last night The 84 was painful And then... drumroll... a #4 CGC 9.4 White showed up in my Metropolis Want List matches this morning. I just bought it without submitting an offer. It went for the same as the last GPA sale ($1375), but the last one at ComicLink (After the TV announcement) went for $1635 (with me dropping out either as the under-bidder of just below) so I just and bought it. I now need: 1,7,20,31,55,60,66,86,122 Which will be the last book? ...pretty sure last GPA on DD 4 was also a Metro book...... 1375 was a bargain for that one, it was a very solid 9.4. The Marvel Art Preview copy of DD 3 went for 400+ ...but those M.A.P. copies really are deserving of the hype. I've snagged a couple and they really stand out next to another copy of the same issue. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u For sure. I didn't even submit an offer for fear of losing it. What's $50 when the alternative is not getting it and spending $500 more the next time one comes around.

  4. Yeah, his books skipped over everything else I needed. I was bummed because he listed so many nice books. I didn't see where any of the others ended up. As for this book, I'm really happy. It's been a weird book for me to acquire.
  5. Finally http://www.ebay.com/itm/351330204288?_trksid=p2055359.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&autorefresh=true (Also, thankfully, I didn't get pushed on the book and tempted to bid some crazy number.) Now I just need a #122 to close out a huge part of the run (87 through 157)
  6. Hopefully dead as Dillinger until I can buy a copy (Summer? ) Then it can skyrocket. FWIW, I think the book is actually flat in high grade, so I might get my wish. Lower grade copies are anything but flat, of course. I would love to upgrade my copy but I am damn happy to be back in the club! This is my 3rd time coming into a copy. I wish I had a lower grade copy right now, tbh. I'll just have to try to work some magic and get the big one before things get too out of hand.

  8. I like the newsstand as well. The colors are phenomenal. That's as good a copy of that book as you're ever going to find.
  9. My #4s, #5s... and #1s and #7s.... I think I need them to wait a year...
  10. Nice copies all around. I love seeing these early books, I groaned when they announced the purple man for the Alias TV show. The 4 and the 5 are next for me in the top ten and now I might have to pay some sort of silly premium for the #4. Sigh. I'll do it just because I don't want to be working on this run for the rest of my life, but it's still annoying.
  11. Oh, and yes! That's a great looking 9.2. It really pops.
  12. It's the last of the big SA keys so it's more plentiful. If you look back at the history of the hobby people were already organized as collectors in 1964. It's not anywhere near the same as it would be later on in the decade where there are stacks of hundreds of Iron Man #1s, etc. but it was more "collected" than books like Fantastic Four #1 and Hulk #1.
  13. Those two are scorchers. I was tempted by the 25, for sure. At this point I'm trying to keep the upgrades (i have a 9.4, non-pedigree) to a minimum, so I held out. I figure I should be spending my money on the handful of books I need for my run. On that front... I just managed to get a 65/69 from Greg Reece (graded by they who shall not be named, so no scans just yet)
  14. Did anyone go broke with Greg Reece tonight?
  15. Yeah, the last one was $265. the last 9.6 went for like $800. I'm definitely looking on the bright side with this one. I would like to have checked off the box, but at least one guy who was gunning for this book is out of the running so it will hopefully be cheaper. On the other bright side, I did win the 78.
  16. It's nearly 3x the last 9.4 sale and it very close to the last 9.6 (from 2013) It went for so much I was basically just pulling random numbers out and I still got pipped at the end.
  17. Arrrrghhhhhh http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?id=1035796 Someone wanted it more than me (to the tune of $750)
  18. I hadn't quite thought of it that way, but in hindsight, yes! I actually think the prerelease royalties I've received so far would just have paid for this comic so there's some logic behind my retcon
  19. Yeah, out of the books I have left this was near the top of the list. It's a cool cover plus I've been channeling being an 80s kid who read the Avengers and picking off a few Hawkeye appearances recently.
  20. When it rains it pours. 3 #99s came up for auction this month. I wimped out on the Don/Maggie Thompson copy, but did manage to win this one tonight. Someone else can win the Comiclink copy
