  1. Having books stolen is awful. And it containing low number Daredevils is a real pain. I just bought a #3, but I'm still looking for a #7 myself. This year I hope. That #8 was killer last night. If I was in the market I would have been all over it. It's got to be the best possible 9.4 out there (minus the date stamp if you're a stickler for that sort of thing- I'm not.)
  2. Since I don't have anything to share... Did anyone win the Daredevil #8 that came up tonight @ Heritage? It's a really sweet copy.
  3. Wonder if you knew their competitor didn't plan on so well and have TaTs that are worse than cgc Actually, this is not true. From my experience, it certainly is. +1. I sent out two subs on the same day, 1 to CGC, 1 not to CGC. The CGC books are graded/qc shipped/safe. My other books are "Safe"
  4. Here it is: http://www.metropoliscomics.com/load_bookDetails.php?id=576643&set=0
  5. a nicer one did come up! Metro has a slightly better wrapped copy just listed this week I don't see it. Sales are starting to come up for Black Friday/Christmas. I just saw it this morning through a want-list match. Maybe it sold?

  7. Thanks! This has been a fun run to put together so far.
  8. For the most part, yes. That said, you're mostly going to see graded 9.6s and 9.8s above 100 just because of the economics of getting those books graded. I have 17 9.4s from 100 to 157, alongside 16 9,6s. and 18 9.8s.
  9. I have 9.6s starting at #19. From there until the 80s it's mostly 9.4s with some 9.6s every so often. From the 80s up until the 130s there are a lot of 9.6s and some 9.8s. After 120, it's mostly 9.8s. But do you look for 9.6's from 80 on up or if a nice 9.4 popped up, would you take it and be happy? I'm just trying to adjust my expectations of 9.8 or bust from my experience with the Miller run and Modern collecting. Obviously the lower issues will probably be 9.2 or 9.4 for me and after the first 20 or so issues, 9.4 or 9.6. But what happens when you get up to the 100's - 9.4? 9.6? 9.8? My minimum is 9.4, so I don't necessarily hold out for a higher grade even for the later books. Setting a hard limit would be really hard as some of the books from the 1970s are tough to find in even 9.4.
  10. Thanks! Whoever owned these before me had a great eye. The #2 and the #3 are awesome and the #1 9.4 White pages that also sold in this auction is maybe the best 9.4 I've ever seen.

  12. Yeah, Heritage yesterday. The #2 went for cheap. I actually liked the book enough that I had a lot of room to go on it, to be honest. I got it for well under my high bid. The #3 went for a fair price.
  13. Who couldn't be happier with the two books he just won? This guy, for sure! My only regret today is not having enough cash right now to have made a run at the 9.4 #1, which was a perfect copy for me. Maybe I'll luck out and it went to a dealer.
  14. I generally avoid anything worse than Off-White. I think I have two cr/ow page books out of 280+ slabs and even there it was on books that I'd been waiting for a while to even have a shot at.
  15. I've graded a fair share of books. I don't get out to conventions as much as I used to so I don't have the opportunity to look at as many raw books as I used to, but I've graded a few of the books in my Daredevil run. I'm collect a few other titles. Nothing as focused as Daredevil right now. My second title is definitely Fantastic Four. Theoretically that would be from 1-293, but that's a lot more expensive than Daredevil I also pick up Silver Age Green Lanterns when I can and a few other things. I'll have to figure out what to focus on, I guess.
  16. Yes. All 9.4 or better with OW or better pages (with maybe two exceptions) and generally very good production quality. The 105 will stick out like a sore thumb, TBH. I'll eventually have 1-191 and then various mini-runs beyond that. My focus right now is the 1-157 because it's WAY tougher than the Miller run. I'm nearly done. I need: 1-5, 7 20, 31, 55, 60, 65, 66, 69, 78, 84, 86, 99, 122, 144 and Annual 3. (yes, the 60s are hard!) Well, the fact they are all slabbed is pretty impressive. The 105 is not so bad honestly. I'm not crazy about the date stamp but that's minor. Some of those issues I have trouble finding also. I don't restrict myself to slabs though, or strictly white pages either. I roughly need 4x the number of issues you need still. Are you number 1 on the registry for DD? Yeah, all in all the 105 isn't bad. It's symmetrical at least. Compared to the rest of the books in the run, however, it's a major outlier. I don't think any others have more than a mm or two of offset. I'm 10th in the registry right now. I'm going to buy a 9.4 #1 and (hopefully) a 9.4 #7, so I won't be able to get higher than 5th. The guys up high all have some nicer books that gobble up the points (icculus308win for one)

  18. Yeah... zero communication. I did get the one book in pretty rapid fashion, so that was okay.
  19. This is the worst book (structurally) in my Daredevil run. But I've lost on this book a billion times and wasn't interested in having this hole in my run forever. I'm now just 122 and 144 short of getting straight from 100-157. A nicer one will probably come up next week.
  20. Did anyone win any of that guy's books? I got the DD 200 (finally!) but other than that I lowballed everything and came up empty.
  21. Post the books to the grading forum. I'd be curious to see what you're seeing as inconsistent.
  22. Overstreet values are a guide. And, yes, you do pay a premium for CGC books over a raw example. But for some people they're happy to pay the premium at purchase time and then crack the book open for their own enjoyment.
  23. Do you inform CGC of the cracked book? I wonder if the current stats on the CGC database are updated. Nice people inform CGC. They don't have to so the census does have some ghost books in it.
