  1. Thanks! The one with Giant Size X might seem a little weak, but I finished two title runs, Spider-man 2099 & Captain America vol 2. Cap #168 was a pain to find, always trouble with the last one eh?
  2. Man, nice Tick book, had signed copies of the first 4 issues years ago. Here's this week's haul, the Trek book has the photo back and picked up Batman Adventures #12 up at a flea mall for a buck! Playing catch up with some more group shots:
  3. Ok, maybe we'll never settle this first appearance thing, so here's the whole bunch. Take yer pick!
  4. I haven't read through this thread in a long time so I hope this hasn't been covered. What I'm about to do will upset most and maybe make a few happy. One of my favorite characters is Captain America, and my favorite issues is ST #114. Now collectors have been dumping on this issue since the beginning. I admit, like most, I've read Avengers #4 many times and never thought about ST #114 until I talked to a dealer friend at a flea market. I admire this man because he's not afraid to put out the truth and has caught much flack over the subject I now present. He told me that Steve Rogers' 1st silver appearance was in ST. Of course, this blew my mind and I wanted to know more.. Yes, the Acrobat is really Cap in most of the book, but on the last page Johnny reads an old Cap comic which shows Steve in all his glory on 3 panels. Yes, it is a "flashback cameo", but it is still Steve. Now, here is the deal. I admit to not researching this part very well, so please correct me if wrong. I know that Kirby drew the first ten Cap issues back in the day and went on to other things. This would make ST #114 the first time that Jack drew Cap since issue 10 or at the very least, the golden age. These two factors in my opinion make this book more historically significant than ever before.Don't get me wrong, Avengers #4 is classic and one of the best stories of Marvel's silver age but I say that ST #114 needs a new day in the sun. I call this picture...... Exhibit A, nuff said. [/img]
  5. Yeah, I think Tech is a keeper, scored an issue today with some searching. Not an easy title to find at the LCS!
  6. I just found a 9.6 CGC book on ebay and it states 1st full for Invincible #1. It's on the second page if you do a search, a little fuzzy but it can be read. Some copies only mention the pin up, others have 1st app info, no great shock that CGC is not consistant. So they totally ignore the preview for Invincible but not for other titles. Hmmmmm...garbage. Wow, we're wrong about MOTU & SD!! Check out what Kirkman says in this interview: http://www.wizarduniverse.com/060308imagespotlight.html
  7. Here's a good one, not only Marvel but CGC considers ASM #365 the 1st for Spidey 2099 (a preview just like SD #102, etc). Just saw a graded copy on ebay and read the description by CGC. I'd say that's pretty official, now they just have to be consistant.
  8. I hear ya on the preview deal but Amazing Spider-Man #365 is considered the 1st app. of Spider-Man 2099 and it's the same deal. I guess it just depends on the book. It just seems like the Preacher preview/Absolute Vertigo & DC Spotlight (Watchmen) books are picking up steam, so why not this one? I didn't see Masters of the Universe on the Diamond list for that week, I guess that was an Image title also. Nice pics!! Thanks for the tip on MOTU #1. Man, this stuff never ends! Found some more info, MOTU was scheduled for shipping on Nov 27 (week before SD#102) so it's possible it was delayed and was released a week later as you were told.
  9. If I missed this please forgive. I just scored Noble Causes Family Secrets #3 the other day and discovered another book that came out the same week back in Dec 2002.....Savage Dragon #102. This has a 5 page preview of Invincible #1. I found only one ref. on the net about this book being tied in w/ Invicible. Did you guys know about this? I couldn't even find SD#102 on ebay. That kinda makes SD a bigger book than NCFS doesn't it? Diamond data link, look under Image books shipping: http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/archive/2002/120402.txt Seems like a must have to me!
  10. Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed the eye candy from my magic short box in the closet. I'm sure more is lurking around somewhere! I have always loved this thread, you guys have some great books!
  11. Ok, found the camera and here's a couple of the new one's in a group shot. That first book is a sketch by my favorite artist, Herb Trimpe from the 08 Baltimore Comic Con. Some others:
  12. I'd say the 3 is VG+, 6 is VG the rest are F to VF. TOS & TTA are VG+, of course I would have bought those in almost any condition because I never thought I would run across them.
  13. I know, I need to find my camera. I think it's buried alive in a closet!
  14. Hey gang, been away from the forum and comics for a while but they always drag me back in. This week I jumped in with both feet. ASM #3 ASM #6 ASM #46 ASM #51 ASM #56 ASM #67 ASM #73 ASM #101 ASM #360 ASM #365 Watchmen #1 League of Extraordinary Gentlemen #1 (regular & Dynamic Forces) Cap #34 9.8 CGC (Dynamic Forces) Marvel Boy #1 (2001) Last week I picked up at a flea market of all things: TOS #1 TTA #1 TTA #12 (I love Gorgilla!) With the bad economy, people are really dumping collections. I went to a shop in Gadsden to discover the owner had just bought an ASM run. Never thought I'd score the Morbius issue. Have been collecting football rookie cards for the last two years, now I'm in a comic book mood. ps: just brought Sandman #1 home, it was worth getting stuck in 5 o'clock traffic for that one.
  15. I was doing a google search for comic forums. Most of the stuff I ran into covered new books and were dead city. It was wonderful to find an active board that covers all era's.
  16. Very nice run nochips! Wow, are there really over 300 people on the Silver board like my computer says? I've never seen this many on the board, cool!
  17. I love Silver Marvels, those great Ditko & Kirby covers are my favorites. All of my favorite characters came out of this age.
  18. Captain America, even though I hated the way Marvel took him out like a wimp. The whole "you're out of touch if you don't watch American Idol" made me sick.
  19. What's legal and what's actually practiced is two different things sometimes. There are plenty of cases of this type from the banking scandal years ago. That's one thing I learned from my Grandparents, never trust a bank!
  20. Glad you didn't, I know people who were denied access to their safety deposit boxes after their bank went belly up. They never got the items back. If it's not in your hot little hands, you ain't got it. It's much safer at the house by far.
  21. Wow what a beautiful #3! Cap's got his hands full in that issue. Congrats!
  22. Finally got an FF#5 today, and here's the pic.
  23. Well, I got my Cap 66 today and man is it nice! It's a shame my pics are bad but it's better than nothing until I can buy a scanner. Here's a new and improved shot.
  24. The only thing I'm trying to finish is my Captain America run, otherwise I don't stick with a book very long.
  25. Thanks, I actually own a horrible beater copy of Cap 53, but I don't really count that one. (It was a dollar, so why not?) I think the 66 is a cgc 6, big improvement from the other book!
