  1. Received the plaque and Alex Ross SS book yesterday and they’re great! Big thanks to the judges, including @wytshus!
  2. Part 7 is posted. Another published page.
  3. Yes indeed, our anonymous collector has the third and final page of the Bone cousins’ appearance in Castle Waiting #1! He bought the whole collection in the 90s from Linda Medley’s brother who was raising funds for further publication of the series. The pages weren't originally signed by Jeff so the collector sent them to Cartoon Books a couple years ago to remedy the situation. He says that this process was a nerve-racking couple of weeks but everything turned out smoothly
  4. Read the instructions in the first post.
  5. Part 6 is live. Back with a published page…
  6. This is the second page of the Bone/Castle Waiting crossover with the Bone cousins blue pencilled and inked by Jeff Smith, lettering by Jeff Smith, and everything else by Linda Medley (with no pencilling).
  7. The CGC people at the convention didn’t know that the book could no longer get graded and why would they? It’s rare that copies of Thorn ever surface and clearly not enough people read this thread I’ll put in my estimate for the 9.8 #1 on the Wednesday before. As I said a few weeks back, this is one of the better NM/MT copies that I’ve seen and definitely superior to the last 9.8 that Heritage offered. I am not bidding but someone here needs to win it!
  8. The Thorn books will no longer be graded by CGC (a policy put in place after October 2021). The owner probably had a witness with him as he got this book signed but, when he sent it to Sarasota, it got sent back without being encapsulated. I suppose he asked Jeff to write something up for him regarding the signature. I posted my own Thorn a few months ago (6/8) which was also rejected. Until I got the rejection notice, I had no idea they didn’t grade them anymore. I let everyone know a couple days later in this thread (6/10) having forgotten to mention it on my June 8th message.
  9. Another Thorn: Tales from the Lantern copy will be in the November Signature Auction on Heritage. The images aren’t up yet but the description certainly piqued my interest. It says that it’s the “only CGC-witnessed signature copy, but was rejected due to CGC’s unwillingness to encapsulate this particular format of book”. Also states that it comes with “a COA signed by Jeff Smith on Bone letterhead”. They estimate the grade is 6.5. I’ll guess that the signature is on the cover which is unfortunate IMHO. If the owner just read this thread he/she could have saved some time and possibly the appearance of the book ***I reserve the right to change my opinion if the sig on the cover looks great (or was actually signed on the interior)
  10. Hey @CGC Mike, could you possibly ask the graders about this? The 9.6 is 3942754013 and a 9.4 that just went up on eBay is 3748004001. Both of these seem to be obvious Royal Blue covers but now they’re labeled as Green. Thanks!
  11. There was a Royal Blue Vengeance of Vampirella #1 CGC 9.6 that ended last night on eBay. From the pics it appears to be legit. When I look up the registry number on the CGC website, the comments are as follows: Green foil wraparound cover. Obviously, it doesn’t say this on the actual label and the book itself was graded on 2/3/22. The Royal Blues still don’t show up on the census. Are we to assume that CGC will no longer identify this variant? Has anyone seen official word on this anywhere?
  12. Part 5 is up. Not a published piece but still cool IMHO. Continued prayers for Jeff
  13. Firstly, everything I’ve seen reported from friends and associates of Jeff says that he’s heading in the right direction which is obviously great news. Keep those prayers going as I’m sure he and his wife can use all the help they can get! Don’t know if any of you were following Jeff’s Twitter account back in 2020 but he held a charitable auction for BINC (Book Industry Charitable Foundation). Quite a few artists sold original art on eBay, but for some reason Jeff sold his on Twitter. It was a Batman/Bone piece that got a good amount of interest. Our anonymous collector didn’t love or hate it but put in a few bids because it was Jeff Smith after all. He was ultimately the second underbidder, but asked Jeff afterwards if he could do a piece in exchange for a charitable donation … and he agreed! The hefty sum went to BINC and our collector got the finished sketch below with the Bone cousins and the Great Red Dragon (the page is about 7”x9”). Like Thorn, the Dragon isn’t drawn much on Jeff’s typical con sketches and, when he is, the result is usually very rough because of his complexity. Given that the Dragon is my favorite character in the saga, seeing a finished ink version of Red is
  14. I was wondering why I wasn’t seeing his usual social media posts. This is horrible
  15. Part 4 is live. Back to a published work by Jeff Smith.
  16. The Bone cousins were involved in a couple crossovers in the mid-to-late 90s which contributed to the only interior pages by Jeff Smith that have ever been in the open market: Shi/Cyblade: The Battle for Independents #1 and Castle Waiting #1. By my guess, there’s no more than five of these pages out there including the one below. This is the first page of the Bones’ appearance in Castle Waiting which was a story written & drawn by Linda Medley and published by Cartoon Books for 4 issues. Our anonymous collector says Jeff pencilled and inked the Bones and created the lettering. Linda inked her characters and the backgrounds, and, impressively, does not appear to have pencilled anything first. Don’t know how these artists do it.
  17. Pics of the #2 or it didn’t happen… Welcome!
  18. The Kingdok is great! I’ve always been partial to the Phoney Bone as Ahab too since #13 was the first Bone comic I bought off the rack. I only have the blue vested Smiley because it included his cigar Fantastic collection!
  19. $107 shipped. This is the first time I’ve ever seen this page colorized I’ve still only read Bone #1 in color when it came out in the 10th Anniversary edition. The background for the new One Volume Edition cover was part of a conceptual art piece done for the Nickelodeon movie that never came to be.
  20. The last time I saw that Bone mug was in April 2021. Came with the box too but went for way more than I was willing to pay. I'm with you on another art-sized Artist's Edition, perhaps of the first eight issues. I’m surprised more people don’t talk about The Great Cow Race by IDW. It was spectacularly done. They need to do an art print of the newest cover to the One Volume Edition.
