  1. Another question on retired labels, I created the invoice before the old labels retired this year, do you still have them available for reholder books, particularly the giant size x-men or the spider-man cityscape labels. Thanks.
  2. Can we go back and make a core Crisis on Infinite Earths set…without all the Canadian variants or reprints and just keep the original 12 issues. please and thank you.. Hello @AJRodriquez I created a set called: Crisis on Infinite Earths (1st Prints) A few weeks ago, check it out when you get a chance. Thanks!

  4. Hi everybody… I just got bumped out of my top spot because a new book was added to my set… I need to find a ss copy or not signed cgc 9.8 or higher copy of the Crisis On Infinite Earths Millennium edition. The chromium cover. I will consider all books offered, but please don’t go crazy just because I am desperate. please and thank you.
  5. I know I am a little late to be reading the post but is there any spots left. please and thanks.
  6. So two months ago I wrote part 1 of this entry. Now it's time to tell you what I did there. So quite literally in two weeks before comic con I got tickets, bought plane tickets, and found a place to stay. It was a hard task but the way I looked at it if everything fell into place - I was destined to go and do what I had only dreamed of doing. My entire goal of going to comic con this year was to get signatures on some prime books. I took with me two copies of Batman (2011) #1 sketch cover. I already had a cgc ss 9.8 grade on both with Scott Snyder sigs on both. I also took a #1 fifth print cgc ss 9.8 grade with Snyder sig on it as well. To round out my need to have signed books - I took with me seven Crisis on Infinite Earths books I had in my in hand that didn't have signatures on them. #3, #4, #5, #6, #9, #10, and #11. All were already graded at 9.8 and the #4 had already been ss with George Perez's sig. So the goal was simple George Perez and Marv Wolfman were both attending, now all I had to do was the whole SS route with a CGC witness and everything. I was able to accomplish it in one day and like I said in part one, I highly commend all the individuals that worked the CGC booth the whole time I was there. No only did they come with me for not one, not two, but three treks through the con to get all my signatures. Fait accompli!!! CGC took my books, took my money (which I gave willingly and gladly and for the price and also the price was extremely reasonable for what I did) and then the waiting period began. With the backlog of books from the con, the scheduled wait time was three months. For the first month I watched for my invoice to convert from received to the next step... Fast forward - month #2 - books went from step to step and after spending one week under quality control I got the coveted email that the books were on the way back to me. Now granted all books had been previously graded at 9.8 so I was 65% sure that the grades would be okay even after all the handling that was done to get them all signed... and as the picture shows these are my results. 80% happy with the results and the other 20% is reserved for something I have planned for the two books that didn't make the 9.8 cut... Now I get to add them to my registry and if it goes like I think it will I completely apologize to the #1 spot. I didn't do it on purpose, but I did do it. On a side note - I still need Batman #1 third print and fourth print both in 9.8, so if you have them or an extra copy I am in the market for them. anyway thanks for reading and as always enjoy the experience of collecting, because it is for enjoyment, at least for me it is and if you can get to a #1 spot, congratulations! 7. my goal was CGC SS books I wasn't even planning on going this year. I had no luck getting tickets every time they went up for sale, but then in June I got the "raffle" email. If you are a registered comic con patron you probably already know what I'm talking about. For all of those that don't. Comic con opened up all remaining tickets that were not sold, or cancelled, or for whatever reason made available again. You had to actually enter the raffle to be eligible to try and buy tickets and only if your name was picked were you allowed to go to a website at a certain date and time and buy whatever was available when your number was called from the waiting room. Long story short - I ended up with 4 day tickets about three weeks before comic con with no plans made whatsoever beforehand. So in three weeks I scrounged up enough money to go, booked the plane tickets, found a place to stay, got vacation from work, and made it happen. Needless to say I sold a lot on ebay to afford the trip and I even borrowed some money to make it a real vacation for myself. I went with one intention in mind. I needed some signatures for some books. I can't say what books yet, until I get them back from CGC... in about three months, so more on those in about two more months... I have read some of the chats about all the signatures fiasco and as I can see both points of view pro and con, I am only going to go with my opinions. I understand the limiting of signatures from the DC booths and the placement of wristband guidelines, but I walked into the DC booth on thursday to find this out, so all of my signing would have to be put off until the following days. I have met Jim Lee countless times, but I am one of those who he still wouldn't know by name when he sees me and I'm okay with that. I would have included his signature on a couple of books, and even though his star shines brighter every year, he was not actually my number one goal. No wristbands on thursday because I didn't know about that yet. I was able to get the Capullo wristband on friday and again all the Lee signing wristbands were already passed out, so I thought I'll try again tomorrow... Friday was my day with CGC SS witnesses and staff. I want to commend all the guys and ladies that worked the CGC booth all through the con. They were the nicest and friendliest people I met all the whole time I was there. Not only were they willing to follow me and wait with me the whole time I stood in lines, but then they talked to me as well. I felt like I was more than a paycheck to them and again would like to say thank you. I decided after getting all that I needed on friday, that I would actually be okay with not getting anything else signed, so I didn't need any more wristbands or waiting in line for wristbands. I was able to enjoy my time and did a lot of sightseeing outside the convention as well as plenty of walking around the con. I went to some panels and even though I wanted to go to some of the big Hall H ones, I opted out of them due to the ridiculousness of the lines there. Really you had to camp out in those lines almost overnight just to try and get into the really good panels. I wasn't that brave. Maybe next year. I will post part two when I get my books back in a couple months. All in all I had a great time. Met some of my favorite artists, showed them the pieces that I own of their work, hung out with friends, and had an all around fun time. Quite the surprise since I hadn't been to one in ten years. 8. Yeah! 9.8. 9.8! Boo! 9.2. 9.2! So I just recently submitted 4 books with my collector's society coupon for this year. I sent in some solid books that I thought would all get pretty good grades - at least 9.6's or higher... I just got the grades back with the books on the way to me. Two books graded at 9.8's, so I'm thinking cool so far - and then I see the other two books grades - 9.2's. I was a little disappointed since I didn't see any out and outright flaws when I send them in. Oh well, you win some and you lose some. What are your grade upset stories...please share so I don't feel so bad. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  9. Look what I just received... Everybody should remember when these books first came out in 1998. Well here is what I know about them. Dynamic Forces released two special versions of this book. 7500 regular copies bagged with a Dynamic Forces seal. 300 copies with a small sketch box on the cover that were filled in with an authentic Joe Quesada pencil and Joe Palmiotti ink head sketch and numbered xxx out of 300. According to the latest CGC survey, 32 qualified copies have been authenticated. Since these sketches were done prior to the CGC SS grade, any book sketched or signed will have a green label, so extending that theory out - any of the original 300 sketched booked would have to receive a green label if ever submitted. Of course there are copies that have the sketch box but were never sketched in, 7 have been universal graded to date and also 8 that were signed and or sketched after the fact with a CGC witness to receive a yellow label. Why all this background information? Look what I just received. Green label = original 300. You cannot see the smile on my face, but there is one! If I have stated any wrong info, please let me know. Also, if anybody else has one graded or ungraded, please show them off as well. Thanks! I just realized that I never added that this was an ebay purchase. I did not submit it myself, but I am still happy I bought it.
