  1. Pedigree's October auction has a lot of nice signed books including ASM #1, the Midtown Variant in 9.8 with SS by Stan, also there is a blank cover of Superior Spidey #1 signed by Stan in CGC SS 9.8. I thought Max Anderson wasn't letting him sign these the last 4-6 years of his life. Kind of neat b/c you can get this book, have your favorite artist sign it under CGC supervision and have a custom cover, especially with what you like and a Stan sign. Does anyone know if this blank cover, signed by Stan, is a rare book? Its currently a 9.8.
  2. Chandler was a prince of a guy and always very helpful. He taught me a lot about getting signatures from artists. I have worked for Chandler and Sharon, been out to dinner with them, got some nice face time with Stan Lee through them and always appreciated both of them. God Speed and RIP Chandler and my thoughts and prayers go out to Sharon and the rest of the Desert Wind family.
  3. I am looking for a Facilitator for the Madison, WI Con on Aug. 4, 2019. One day show and only a small number of submissions. Text me at 608-295-6623.
  4. I am not interested in trades but I have MANY Stan Lee books for sale. Check out my stuff on ebay for member_90121. I have Amazing Spider-Man 539 in CGC SS 9.8 double signed by Stan Lee and Ron Garney, ASM 573 the Colbert variant in CGC SS 9.8 signed by Stan, Hulk books by Stan in CGC 9.8 some Civil War Variants including the Michael Turner color variant Civil War #6 in CGC SS 9.8, etc. I also just started listing Captain America books signed by Joe Simon. Captain America #1, Coipel variant in CGC SS 9.6 signed by Joe, Siege #1 CGC SS 9.6 signed by Joe, Cap Am #1 the Blank cover signed by Joe in CGC SS 9.8. Will be posting more later this week and tonite. Also have about 14 Economies signed by Joe including Captain America 109, three copies with three different grades expected, ranging from 7.5 - 9.4 with the highest graded one also carrying a Stan Lee signature. Should have grade on these within the next 24 hours. Contact me directly at GRehfeldt@aol.com
  5. Best response I ever got from a creator was David Finch about 4 years ago at WW Chicago (back when Wizard actually had DC and Marvel AT their cons and in a booth) It was Thursday night and only VIPS were on the floor. Finch got handed his name tag, which was just a pin, and got distraught because he didn't want a pinhole in his favorite t-shirt. I had an extra lanyard and gave it to him and he was just tickled. Signed a bunch of stuff and did two small head sketches and a full body Spidey for me. Moral of story... pay attention and try to help.
  6. I would venture your "expert grader" really doesn't know what CGC is looking for. You say he missed 4 out of 7 books. That suggests to me that what he thinks is a 9.8 isn't in the eyes of CGC. I have learned what this means throught lots of experience. I have submitted in excess of 1000 books to CGC.My average obtaining CGC grades of 9.8 is between 80-90%. Generally on pre-screens I can get close to the 90% range. I have never gotten 100%. I submitted 40 Amazing Spider-Man 539 (First Back in Black book) to CGC and got 39 9.8s. I still have the picture if you want to see it. When I first starting submitting I was getting 9.4s and 9.6s occassionally. You really have to look a book over to insure it is a 9.8. Look at it at a sharp angle with a lot of light, if you see dents, pockmarks or spine stresses (more than 1-2 of 1/32 inch or less), even if they don't break color, you aren't going to get a 9.8. Same goes for corner dings, color rubs and other various dents. As with all things that an art, not a science, grading is subjective, but the key is be consistent. CGC is very rarely inconsistent, but mostly they are on the mark. If you want 9.8 grades and the monetary benefits that follow you need to learn what make a CGC 9.8. You should seek out an expert grader that has a good track history with CGC. Feel free to contact me if you need some help. I can provide references such as the guy who produced only the SECOND GI Joe #21, the Silent Issue, in CGC 9.8. Your suggestions about countrywide locations would only promote more inconsistency and further denigrate the name of CGC. You would start hearing stuff like..."Let's see these books in CGC Midwest, they don't mind corner dings as much as CGC East." Get my drift? GOOD LUCK!!
