Only one picture and sorry for the quality as it is kind of hard to see, but it seems to show some kind of Ink Printing/Manufacturing error. The red ink from The X seems to bleed into the white box with the issue number. Also seems to be a reddish shadow under the MEN in x men. I've never seen this before so was wondering if it is a grade deduction and if so what effect? Or is it considered some sort or printing/manufacturing defect and little or no impact on grade. So this is less about grading this book and more about the effect of this ink bleed. Any help is appreciated.

DD 2 in overall nice shape, but with chipping top and bottom right of cover. What affect will this have on grade? Thanks!

Thinking of buying this, but it is pretty rough. Subscription crease on front and back and I'm not sure if the grade starts low and then more is deducted from there for additional flaws. Sorry for pics.

Very nice presenting book. Interested in thoughts on condition now and if a C&P will benefit this one. Discoloration around the issue number and Spidey's face is printing/manufacturing ink error and I have seen the same on books graded 9.8. Thanks

There is no tape there. Looks like there was at one point many years ago and that is leftover discoloration. It is not bug chew. It was me nervously chewing on it awaiting grades fro you guys! LOL. Not sure will check when I get home

Thoughts on grade appreciated. There is a small square discoloration on the top right back cover. Not sure what it is but not tape. maybe tape was once there a long time ago? Thanks!

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm at a 2.0 or so myself. I got it when I was 11 at a convention in NYC. My first big book. I have a second copy as well.

I found this language from CGC, After consideration of the expressed views of the community and assessment of the practice, beginning with submissions postmarked after May 3, 2013, CGC will modify its grading standard and ignore the presence of tape if it serves a function (such as fixing a tear or spine split) and instead grade the book as if it was not present. Therefore, any existing defect will be graded accordingly. If the tape does not serve a function, the tape will be treated as a defect and the book will be downgraded. By doing this, books will still receive a Universal Label but the grade will better reflect the actual condition of the comic book. Do you think the tape serves a function on this book? How can anyone actually tell without looking under the tape for spine splits etc?

My oldest Big Book. Got it in 1978 and have only pulled it out of the short box a few times over the years to bag and board. It is lower grade for sure with what looks like super old masking tape up and down the spine and multiple flaws, but it's mine and I love it. Book is complete and despite the tape on spine the staples seem intact. Kids liked tape in the 60's I guess. Nothing loose and no cut outs. Any thoughts on grade, viability for C+P etc. Thanks!
