  1. ion comics will be set up at corner-booth 1014. I’ll have about 23 long boxes of Modern goodness…..variants, keys and semi-keys. $10+ books, $5 books, $2 books. Lions and tigers and bears…..OH MY!! I’m bringing the proverbial “kitchen sink”. Please stop by to browse, buy or just to say “hi”!!!! Carl MacDaddy (MDC)
  2. Similar thing happened to me at Coliseum of Comics way back in 2010. Was vacationing in Orlando and had some down-time. Stopped in CoC and found a Dreamwalker #0 in the dollar bins. What were the odds.
  3. I don’t mean to sound condescending but who is forcing any collector to purchase a $500 “pump ‘n dump” comic that was $5 a week before? Isn’t speculating on comics (or any collectible) a gamble? I personally have had busts before but those purchases were all on me. Not trying to start an argument.....just a discussion. Happy collecting! Meck
  4. ion comics will be set up in usual spot. Will have 9 long boxes and a wallboard full of Copper/Modern comic goodness! Meck
  5. I just received my Venom Dell'Otto books (Color and B&W). Both books had a noticeable spine dent/crease on the front cover (which I can live with). There was an additional flaw, however, on the B&W copy -- small transverse dent/crease in lower right corner of front cover. Its tough to see if this dent affected the interior pages (since I have not yet removed comic from the polybag). Strange thing is, the backing board inside the polybag does not show any corner damage, so it's possible the comic was dinged up even before it was sealed in the bag. I contacted Frankie's Comics immediately and inquired about an exchange. They returned my e-mail within a few hours (so I am very impressed by their prompt customer service). Unfortunately, they had no additional copies to process an exchange BUT they did offer a full refund once the comic was returned. Still mulling over what to do. I hate returning books. Meck
  6. Wouldn't ASM 252 be considered the first symbiote? I know issue 258 reveals that Spider-Man's black costume is really an alien, but doesn't that revelation create a retroactive historical fact? Inquiring minds wanna know!! Meck
  7. We miss you TACO!!! Come back to the East Coast and into the light! The Force is strong in Philly!! Carl (ion comics)
  8. I'm curious......if you were the owner, how would you have handled it? Meck
  9. Not trying to start an argument but can you please tell me WHY this comic store owner is scum? Granted, he should have waited until the customer left the store to price and display them (that would have been the considerate thing to do). But he did offer a discount. Could it have been more? Absolutely!! Don't get me wrong, I would have felt a bit slighted if I was in the same position (which I have been in before). BUT.......when you go into a situation like that (i.e. trying to purchase unpriced comics), 9 out of 10 times you are going to have the store owner determine FMV. It sucks doing homework for others, but that's the price you pay (pardon the pun), in this type of situation. Besides, the store owner has just as much right to make a buck as we (the collectors/flippers) do. Just my Meck
  10. OT-- Anyone have a copy of Contest of Champions #1 (Yu variant) with a PURPLE background? I thought all copies had a blue background but one of my copies is distinctively purple. Not trying to create a "variant of a variant" scenario; was just curious if anyone has seen this anomaly. Thx! Meck
  11. Which thread is the best place to advertise a yard sale on this website? Meckler
  12. $60 was definitely lower than the prices on eBay at that time....by about $20. Meck
