To have a double cover is nearly unheard of. Dave’s covers from the first run, 4 years prior, will run you $200,000-$400,000. This one is from the time of the second run. The closeups of Conan are gorgeous by Barry Smith, and the black background adds great depth to the page. It doesn’t hurt to have a beautiful maiden in bondage about to be sacrificed. Not to mention that Sal inks on the Barry pencils makes it even more pleasing. Can’t get much better Fantastic Four #256 p1 (Oversized) by John Byrne Maybe the most important thing to know about this piece is that it’s huge, it’s 171/2”x 12”. That’s the size of large art pieces. Normally these splashes are 15”x10”. So the impact of seeing this extraordinary piece hanging on your wall is profound. This splash has it all; it features the whole team, and they are in the negative zone, which gives you all that black cosmic background that we art collectors love. You can’t even buy a great X-men Byrne page for this price. This is clearly better than most of the covers in the run. I hate to tell you what a great Fantastic Four cover will cost you nowadays. Cap and Destroyer kicking Nazi butt Invaders #18 Cover by Gil Kane Cap in full action mode. Gil Kane does a great job of capturing the intensity of Captain America in battle mode. Having the Destroyer, a hero from the Golden Age, is a rare treat for art collectors. This is his first appearance after 30 years away. Truly a wonderful cover that in auction nowadays would clearly sell for more than the asking price. At least that’s what I’ve been noticing. If you want a great battle cover from the 70’s featuring one of our greatest heroes, Captain America, then this one's for you.
