  2. Today, March 4th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Bernie Wrightson Steve Ditko Alex Saviuk Featured Page: Brave and the Bold #154 p1 by Jim Aparo Most of the time when I think of a classic Batman image something like this splash comes to mind. Aparo really captures the essence of Batman. With the advent of the newest Batman movie, which is garnering great reviews, I thought it was appropriate to introduce this moody Batman piece. Better than most covers. NEW ART FRIDAYS! update this week includes art from Frank Thorne, Jack Kirby, Bernie Wrightson, Jim Aparo, Rich Buckler, Steve Ditko, Marshall Rogers, Flint Henry, and Alex Saviuk! Savage Sword of Conan #29 p48 (Splash)(Large Art) by Frank Thorne Boys’ Ranch #4 p11 (Large Art) by Jack Kirby Jade Hand p1 by Bernie Wrightson Love Romances #101 p5 (Large Art) by Jack Kirby Brave and the Bold #154 p1 by Jim Aparo Fantastic Four #331 p18 (Signed) by Rich Buckler Forbidden Worlds #137 p2 (Large Art) by Steve Ditko G.I. Joe #77 p9 by Marshall Rogers Grimjack #65 Cover by Flint Henry Saviuk Spider-Man Commission (Signed) by Alex Saviuk See all these New Art Fridays! pages at www.nostalgicinvestments.com/fridays and hundreds of comic art pages at www.nostalgicinvestments.com/comic-art Payment plans and trades are always available.

  4. Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! - On Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. Dark Phoenix Saga Classic X-Men #38 Cover by Steve Lightle The Dark Phoenix Saga only ran for 9 issues so there are a very limited number of covers available, and not many feature Phoenix. This one has Mastermind seducing Phoenix as Cyclops burns with jealousy. This is an inexpensive way to own an X-men cover of this caliber. If this was from the run, the price would be exorbitant. SEE IT! » See more Spotlight Mondays! pages atwww.nostalgicinvestments.com/spotlight-monday and hundreds of comic art pages at www.nostalgicinvestments.com/comic-art Payment plans and trades are always available.

  8. Greetings! Philippe Labaune Gallery, located in NYC, is thrilled to exhibit *original artwork* by Dave McKean from the making of his graphic novel Black Dog: The Dreams of Paul Nash. Typical in McKean fashion, we are showcasing pages that highlight his diverse style of collage, drawing, and painting. Attached are several examples of work that are available for sale. If interested in any works please let us know. The scans we have of his work truly do no justice!!! We would be happy to send you images of the work as they are installed in the gallery, with detail shots of his fantastic work. Some of these "pages" are big! It is a rare opportunity to see the detail, depth, and variety of materials McKean utilized for this graphic novel, details that are not lost in the reproduction process. Below are several examples of the work currently on exhibition, now until August 14th.
  9. Today, May 10th, is Nostalgic Investments Comic Art’s SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! SPOTLIGHT MONDAYS! - Every Monday we will spotlight a special piece of art for your collecting pleasure. This Week: Captain America spread by Kirby Captain America #199 p2-3 (Spread)(Signed) by Jack Kirby There aren’t many things better in our collectible than a Jack Kirby double page spread. This Cap and Falcon spread is wall to wall action. Cap may very well be the single greatest character that Kirby ever created. Captain America and Kirby traversed from the Golden Age of comics (1941) to the Silver Age (1960’s) to 1976 when Kirby came back to Marvel and drew Captain America issue 193. These Kirby double page spreads are nearly impossible to find, especially one featuring Cap, and the now exceedingly popular Falcon. 13. Fantastic Four Annual 3 Page 1 This is truly an historic and a most memorable splash. In the annals of the Marvel Universe there are a few events that would rival the wedding of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Featured Artists: Gray Morrow John Buscema Frank Frazetta Featured Page: Adventure Comics #415 p5 (Zatanna) Pencils: Gray Morrow Do you realize how rare it is to find a page from a Zatanna story? She was only featured, with her own story line, in issues of Adventure Comics 413-415. The stories were 7 pages each. Gray Morrow drew her in these issues and, as you can see, he did a wonderful job. 17. Today, March 12th, is Nostalgic Investments’ Comic Art NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Bernie Wrightson Rich Buckler Jack Kirby Featured Page: New Gods Poster Orion vs Darkseid (Kirby Pencil Version-Large Art) This piece is tremendously important. First, let me explain what it actually is. This piece is the cover, it was light boxed and then Royer inked the light boxed portion of it. Kirby then added more images around it. Shown underneath the original art is the finished poster. The poster hung in comic stores, which were plentiful at the time, and is the most recognizable advertising for the Fourth World. In 1984 DC was bringing back the New Gods. This has the two most important characters from the Fourth World: Orion and Darkseid. They are finally facing off, and with Kirby pencils no less! It’s a huge piece, by the way. Ava DuVernay is directing the upcoming movie, DC's New Gods. She’s one of the hot new directors in Hollywood. I just read an article in Batman-News.com and this scene from this poster was used to talk about the upcoming movie project. NEW ART FRIDAYS! update this week includes art from Jack Kirby, Sal Buscema, Frank Robbins, Irv Novick, Rich Buckler, Bernie Wrightson, Adam Brown, Don Heck, Charlie Adlard and Herb Trimpe! Featured Artists: Don Heck Gil Kane Jack Kirby Featured Page: Avengers #9 p3 (Large Art) by Don Heck Avengers #9 is one of my all time favorite issues in all of comics. 20. Today, February 19th is Nostalgic Investments Comic Art’s NEW ART FRIDAYS! Featured Artists: Sal Buscema Bernie Wrightson Jack Kirby Featured Page: Michael Turner Witchblade Illustration (Very Early) by Michael Turner This piece is very special. Witchblade #1 made its debut in November 1995 and was so popular that Pittsburg Comic Con invited Michael to attend their 1996 show. On a big piece of foam core the show promoter had a number of artists draw the characters they were best known for. Years later, this piece was cut out from the rest of the board in order for it to stand alone as a magnificent, and very early, image of Witchblade. NEW ART FRIDAYS!
