$500 takes the whole lot (that's LESS THAN $10 PER BOOK): 55 books in 3 banker boxes. Great for someone looking for a one-stop instant collection of Silver Age Marvel, DC & Tower Thunder Agents in Hardcover form, or for a reseller. Local meet/handoff in Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley area preferred. Otherwise buyer assumes shipping costs (which I would need to investigate: these books are HEAVY so shipping cost might outweigh the benefit). If only interested in the Marvel package, 29 books for $300 (several are original "marble" covers, including some first printings; (e.g., Captain America 1990 edition; Iron Man 1992 edition); if only the DC + Tower package, 26 books for $250. GREAT CONDITION: Most are NEAR MINT/LIKE NEW, unread except for reference. A few may be F/VF due to minor shelf wear or minor tears on dust jacket (usually on the spine, visible in attached photos). All have original dust jackets. From a smoke-free home: they smell terrific! SOLD AS IS, no returns. PAYPAL only. I'm not clear if any of the Marvels are the collectible so-called variant editions. If you have any questions about individual volumes, ask. See photos for volume numbers etc but listed here are the CONTENTS of the runs: FANTASTIC FOUR: Issues #1-81, including Annuals up to #6 AVENGERS #1-30 X-MEN (silver age): #1-21 X-MEN (bronze age): Giant Size #1, #94-120 THOR: JIM #83-120, Annual #1 ASM: AF#15, #1-40 + Annuals 1 & 2 DR. STRANGE: Strange Tales 110-111, 114-141 DAREDEVIL 1-11 CAPTAIN AMERICA: ToS #59-99, Cap 100 IRON MAN: ToS #39-65 JLA: #15-30; #40-70 DOOM PATROL/MY GREATEST ADVENTURE: #80-121 THE FLASH: Flash 104; Showcase 4, 8, 13, 14; Flash 105-132 GREEN LANTERN: #14-47 CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN: #3-8 METAL MEN: Showcase 37-40; Metal Men 1-5 THUNDER AGENTS (+ DYNAMO etc): Complete run. THANKS FOR LOOKING.

I posted a similar thread on CBCS and got some great feedback and answers, so hopefully I can get some more help here. I am very distantly related to Steve Ditko through marriage, and many years ago at a Christmas party, he signed a bunch of comics for me. I submitted them to CBCS, and they refused to authenticate them. I believe their reasons were BS, but they basically told me that no one could have so many books signed by Ditko. Moreover, in order to certify them, they wanted me to write Ditko and have him verify their authenticity. Unfortunately he passed away, and I am unsure of the status of the last letter I wrote him, requesting he contact cbcs. I do however, have the following: 1. The last letter and stationary Ditko wrote to me ( I had other letters from my childhood, but my dumb didn't save them) 2. Family photos of Ditko that have never been publicly released 3. An email from Ditko's long time friend and editor for the past 40 years, Robin Snyder, confirming the signatures authenticity, and the veracity of my story. Ditko would sign comics, especially for family when he returned home to Johnstown PA 4. I also have a ancestry.com printout showing our distant connection I was a huge collector when I was a kid. Recently, I got back into the hobby. I have consulted with various "industry experts", and shared my story with many on google plus communities. All are in agreement that the value is unknown, and I should contact an auctioneer to establish if there is any interest in them. I would like to get the comics certified and preserved first. I want to keep most if not all in the family to pass down, but I would be willing to part with a few. So my question to the community is, how would you proceed from here if you were me????

Recently I came into possession of a piece of art done way back in the day of the great comic book illustrators. It appears to be a recreation of the Amazing Spider-man issue 21 inside cover/page 2 where Spiderman is fighting The Beetle. In the original comic this piece was done by the legendary Steve Ditko and to my knowledge this piece looks identical to the image in the comic. And I am assured that it was created around the same time. To that effect it was signed by Stan Lee as he is certain of it's age but not able to clarify the artist (as he's, you know, getting on a bit). Does anybody know if there is a way to authenticate the original artist? I know it can sometimes happen through a signature but other than what could possibly be behind some tip-ex there is no signature to analyse on this piece. I've attached the image for reference. I'm just curious as to whether this can be done as I'm very proud of owning this piece and want piece of mind as to it's value, otherwise I won't be so proud Thanks in advance.
