namisgr
However, when you read some of those early threads, it's pretty clear the culture of the board was much different than it is today. Even when I got here, you could still be a pretty big to others and not face much, if any, reprisal. Joe Collector was a to people just about every day. It's different now. Agreed. Vince gave me the board welcome 'hazing' as soon as I started posting. Helped keep the newbies who didn't know how to act or behave in line. Later, the guy turned out to be a fountain of knowledge about the Bronze Age.
jimjum12
I remember a few "feud" type threads, or hi-jacking of threads started by you. Should I ban you too? The bottom line is, for whatever their reasons are, people here feel the need to discuss this guy and his actions. Plenty of comments about him are started by other people. If they are going to be allowed to make the comments, then he is going to be allowed to respond, and/or make statements of his own. As long as the discussions remain factual and civil per the board guidelines, then there's nothing bannable about them. Although Meth is currently sitting in the penalty box because I had to remove a post from this thread that did *not* stick to the guidelines. RockMyAmadeus
I guess that may be true, but I remember eerily similar threads. Definitely. However, when you read some of those early threads, it's pretty clear the culture of the board was much different than it is today. And you didn't get "strikes" for it, and people didn't hump the button at the drop of a hat. Button humping leads to mod overreaction leads to button humping leads to mod overreaction. Repeat. I never had an issue with him but hoo boy, if he had it in for you.... ... Deathlok and I would square off on occasion but I always had a grin on my face when interacting with him. Finally had a chance to meet him either at SD Con or Wondercon. We got on fine. He was actually, in person, rather gentle and was wearing a very classy sport shirt. mar-vell
Elrod was a passionate collector who especially loved the Pacific Coast pedigree. Good guy to chat and do business with. Wonder if he still collects? As for the Boards, you can plainly see how different things were. People had much thicker skin, the talk was more about comics and less about investments, and the button didn't get humped over simple disagreements. supa posts once in awhile over at the oakland raider message boards( we are both long time fans) on scout.com other than that I haven't seen him. StuporMan
Thicker skin or not, all boards are like this to some degree...and some people just want to up their post count and find it's easier to post or troll their way to 10,000 instead of contributing. Look back at your first post to the boards and how you were welcomed (at least I felt that way) and try to bring that to the first-timers. We want people to join the hobby and have respect for our culture, right? Can we go back to talking about comics
OldGuy
I got here far too late to enjoy the action firsthand but I've always been curious as to what happened with the lawsuit Same thing that happend to the lawsuits he threatened me with, nothing. He also wanted to beat me up so I posted a picture of myself, gave him my address and also posted when and where I would be at comic cons. Coward never showed. OldGuy
It's funny how the old guys complain about how horrible this place has gotten. When you read those early posts, it is EXACTLY the same. The main difference back then was we actually did something about it when faced with excrement like Danny. Now people just whine.

Anfield Fox
Supa-Pimp was driven out of here by some shady dealings of his about, what, 3 years ago...? Don't remember... Last post was in 2013. I don't know what the circumstances were as most likely the useful posts would most likely have been nuked. He promised a NM #98 to someone as prize from a raffle or something. Refused to pay for shipping to the UK. Link. Oh jeez not this again
