Go buy the Boody book by Craig Yoe -- only about $14 at amazon when I bought it. You'd be lucky to find one beater original for that price.

Thanks for the tip! (thumbs u

My daughters (9 &12) love this book - especially the Babe stories.

It didn't bother your 9-year-old when Babe was walking around with a seriously broken neck? Kinda creeped me out, and I'm over 9!

Actually that was kind of freaky - especially as it is never resolved in the story - but she didn't seem to be bothered. If that TV documentary about the eight limbed little girl didn't freak her out - I don't think a comic will - on the the other hand she doesn't like "scary" stories - so you never know.

Most impressive! How tough is Miss America #1?

pretty darn tough. i looked for awhile before i got it. bedrock, who has a much higher grade threshhold than me, never got one in the grade he wanted before losing interest in the "little" timelys.

she later got a female sidekick, but early on she had a partner, prince mengu. he had an alter-ego, lionel. but he wasn't a kid, and shelly sure did draw the guy on the leopard as a youth. that's mengu on the ground on this one.

Why do you suppose she'd give such a valuable fighting companion the boot?

Hmmm, a suspicious family resemblance between Mengu and the grinning kid on the incognito tiger. Maybe I'm beginning to understand why she left him on the ground for the green devil-gal.

Thanks for the explanation.

I didn't look through the entire thread, but one that should be mentioned is within Planet Comics.

The story series of Hunt Bowman and the Lost World has the character Lyssa. She was Hunt Bowman's

traveling partner(?)/sidekick through many adventures on a new Earth

which was freshly ravaged by an alien invasion.

Her character was well written(mostly) and is

fun to read about. Lyssa is on the cover pictured.

She is wearing the red dress, You can't miss her.

Just in case you missed her, here is a close up....
