One of my favorite pulp covers was for sale on ebay.  I put it to watch, and set an alarm on my phone for the day the auction was ending.  The day comes, and the alarm goes off 20 minutes before the auction ends, and I'm pretty excited, getting ready to toss a bid at it.  Then something unexpected happens as I'm waiting, my nephew and sister show up, which is great.  I make snacks, put on a Pluto cartoon, and hop back on ebay to find out I missed it by a minute.  1 bid, well under what I was going to toss at it.  I guess don't wait till the last minute if you really want a book.  Unrelated, I got this this week, another fun weird tales.  Happy with the book, but I really wish pulp sellers would disclose that the cover is glued on.  Not the first time this has happened.  Here is the auction description Condition: Fair: 2 inches off top and bottom of spine held by tape. Light tan to tan supple pages.

*edit*  I'm 99% sure my copy is the image used on Wikipedia for Gaston Leroux.

Whomever paid double the value of the Startling Mystery Tales 2 to spite me, because you were salty over the #1... good job. xD

Accidental punishment bid? Cool cover, but considering it's reused and the issue isn't that scarce, I'd be glad I didn't win. You'll find another for less (well, maybe).
