What is this the "Double X cover" Pedigree???

 

All the covers have two penciled X's on them?

that's what attracted me to them.....if they were triple X my wife wouldn't have let me have them.

You'll notice on this pedigree line of books, to the immediate left of the two x's at the very top there is a fill-in-the-blank, also in pencil, so owners can make them XXX books if they'd like (pencil is required though or else the lineage is broken).
