Question on a light water stain

6 posts in this topic

I was interested in a nice eye appeal FF1 probably in the VG+ VG/FN range. No marvel chipping and "clean" cover with no writing. But when I look at the back of the book, bottom right has a light water type stain maybe 1/2 to 3/4". IF I would get that graded via CGC what would happen to the grade? Would they really knock it down because of that? I have no experience at all with this type of defect.

Any words of wisdom or comments are welcome!

Thanks,

Steve

Steve there will likely be no affect at all on the grade in VG range. Scans would help but I would say you are safe. Does it go through the book or just on the cover. I've seen 5.0 books with a stain right through the entire book.

Glad you found one.

At that grade the hit you would take is not as severe. High grade books with water stains get hammered by CGC.

yes they do!
