Heritage Auction has begun the sale of my More fun #54 CGC 8.5!!!

I picked this one up- even though it is not nearly my favorite cover of the run. My undercopy is now for sale..

now there's class... talking down a book you just paid 17k for! I'm jealous!

I wholeheartedly agree btw. I think the cover is one of the most overrated of the GA. Not suspense 3 overrated , but close. Its a nice cover, but that's it.... no grand classic IMO.

Funny, I consider it one of the better Spectre covers. It's grand, emotional, moody and yet Bailey has something fluid going on that most of the time he could not capture.

Anyhow, different folks and all...

A MF 54 would be something like a Tec 31 to me as the best cover in the run.
yeah, but MF 54 ain't no Tec 31 lol

Not even close.. Tec 31 will be at my top of the list as the best cover of all time.. Both covers resemble that dark appearance which I love

funny how the most disputed discussions on best covers are always on Spectre More Funs.

Why not Actions or Tecs?

If we spoke to Tim (TTH2) the question would be which of the Green Lantern covers does he dislike the least.

Okay, how`s this for a controversial statement: I think the Spectre MF covers are highly overrated. On the other hand, I LOVE a lot of the Dr Fate MF covers and think they`re incredibly underrated.

Ditto.

(thumbs u Our artistic tastes have tended to run along the same lines...except for your love of Don Heck, of course. :baiting:

It's okay to disagree. After all you like the early JLA and I still talk to you :baiting:

Ok, I'll bite, what is your favorite More Fun cover? For me, 54 is one of the those rarified Uber-classic covers.

65, of course. My second favorite is the one with the budda statue cover (?58)

#54 would be an exception (along with a couple of others) - but i agree that most Spectre MF coves are only interesting because the Spectre is such a cool looking character, while the Dr. Fate covers are all pretty nifty ( I especially like #71) - I think the Spectre knockoff Mr. Justice covers on MLJ's Blue Ribbon Comics are largely cooler than Spectre More Funs.

Man I don't know what's more impressive this book or your collection. :o Are we talking some serious GA inventory as I would love to see some scans. On the More Fun #54 I love this book, love this copy but don't forget that the Nova Scotia CGC 9.0 copy (wish I could find a scan of it in my database). It sat on Metro's site for a few years asking $33k-$35k before being moved to Comicconnect's last auction. I don't think it sold and the last bid I saw it was stuck at $17K. The white paged 7.5 copy on Comicconnect hasn't sold in over a year and it has an asking price of just under $10K.

I hope you get your price but I see this as a $17K book, $20K tops at auction.

that is about what I was thinking, but I hope it goes gangbusters (thumbs u

Closed at $17,327.50

looks like we correctly forecasted and pronosticated (thumbs u

:acclaim: Rick you pronosticator you. :baiting: Whomever won this book pick up a gem and a very nice price. The presence of a number of available copies in surronding grades held its value down but the fact that there are not many nice mid to low grade affordable copies is frustrating. I see the Nova Scotia copy is back on Comicconnect with an asking price of $35,000 but unfortunantely because of prior sales history I don't think this copy is going to get much cheaper. Some of the Spectre covers are so so but many of them are just darn cool and #54 is a top 10 GA cover in my books.
