Hulk 180 - $8.99 BIN!!!

38 posts in this topic

Look at the insane high bidder! He has bid it up to $1000 and then like 5 bids on top of that! And those bids are spaced at $25 per - meaning the book could go over $1200!

Actually I think they are only 5 cents apart...I used the same lame intimidation tactic on some 30 cent variants I was bidding on... I think that as long as you are the high bidder and the next highest bidder is below the $25 required increment for OTHER bidders, you can out bid yourself a penny at a time.

ie. drbanner selling a book at reserve of $500; cloberintime bids $474.99 first, then I bid $500.00 and it shows reserve met. I can continue to bid 500.01, 500.02, 500.03, 500.04, 500.05. The bid history show me 5 times then clobberin's name. The auction price remains at $500.

speculation on what???

the movie HAS ALREADY BEEN RELEASED!!

On the rumors that there will be a Wolverine movie.

...on the rumors that guides will someday list this as the true first appearance of Wolvevrine vs the cameo, thus devaluing the hulk 181 from its towering heights 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

No joke, and check out this little bit of fancy footwork:

while that can only be speculated, the bid history would actually suggest (if it had to suggest anything), that the bids WEREN'T 5 cents apart.

tha_profesesional, bidding about 45 minutes bfore auciton end, stumbles accidentally(?) on the 32.01 criadel bid (appearing stacked at the time) using his $2 increments and let's it sit after placing his $32 bid?

I was gonna go for the book, but after seeing that Mr Tricky had stacked his bids by a few cents, I decided to let him have it at his top price. grin.gif

I stand corrected: while they may be as little as pennies apart ( I just did it on richnerd's Spidey auction) one can stack bids however large a difference one wants. I was not referring to any particular auction when responding to clobberintime; at least I didnot look into the bid history you pointed out b4 responding foreheadslap.gif

I thought that when it reached a certain level, the increments went at $25 a pop? I have and never will try that bidding startegy. I talked to someone who knows a lot about high grade 180 prices and this is mid-range for 9.4s! It still seems like an awful lot for that book to me though.

I kinda feel like a heel for bidding it up so high but I was pi$$ed at the stack bids. It was a nice copy that I would have paid more than $700.00 for due to the centering and pq but seeing as I couldn't break the bid stack even with a $1,000 bid, I gave up. Would I have paid $1,000.00 for this book. Probably not.

I sold the exact same set of books around the time if the hulk movie release for $1400, This might actually be the same two! If so that 180 is sweet! 182 has OW pages, persoanally hate the ow pages!

I will go $1201 Bob!
