Picked up these two at a show this weekend for $10 each. With issue #48, that leaves only seven issues I need to complete the run, and one of those (#14) is currently on its way to me in the mail. I already have a fairly high-grade #62, but even with the condition issues this one has, I couldn't pass it up for only $10 - it can be tough to find period, regardless of condition.

Picked this up today.  Maybe an 8.0.  Came from a friends childhood collection. #1 5th printing.  :)

I found an Eastman laird titled comic today, it didn't register with me, so I wasn't sure about it. #1 3rd print was at the LCS and would complete my #1-4 collection, currently optimistic that something I have to sell will fund more for the collection.

Glad to see the turtles get the love is what I'm saying, so congrats. :)

Currently addressing it on social, yet the games looked well enough. :x

I should have picked them up like years ago when I had a chance but you know me, I am more of  Joe collector.  I had a #1 when I was a kid but not sure what printing so this was more of a replacement buy to have one back in the collection.  I remember at the point I got into turtles it was the Archie series.  Only reason I had the #1 when I was younger was I did some driveway work on neighbors driveway ( we had extra gravel so put some on his drive) and he gave me that book.

#1 3rd printings were like $10 for so many years at conventions. The good old days.

Even I thought $500 was a bit high, but it's not my book nor for sale at my expense, I didn't want to question too much. Idk, I think I'd still buy it if my book sells, as it's a need for some type of #1 with that particular cover. :)

Picked this up from @John R's recent sale (thanks John!), which means I'm now only 5 issues away from completing my Vol. 1 run (#1 is a 4th print, #2 is a 3rd print and Raphael is a 2nd print). Once I complete the run, I'll probably try to upgrade the #2 to at least a 2nd print and the Raphael to a 1st. It's been a fun run to collect so far, lots of great places and prices (and some not-so-great) that I've found my books!

Here's a straight-up copy/paste from the Comic Room Showcase thread, but as the room is exclusively TMNT, I figured I'd share it here:

Hello All!

FINALLY got around to doing something I've been talking about for literally years now.  We've been in our house for a while and I've always had this space carved out for my collection, but it's always been an unfinished room with exposed lumber, beams, and ducts along with a concrete floor with a (non-rectangular) carpet remnant on it.  Now we've added another outlet, finished the walls and ceiling, painted, and put down some carpet with a proper pad underneath.  The difference is night and day.  Take a look:

Before:

After:

IMG_1994.thumb.jpg.38c18b173e046af688f1141353f59765.jpgIMG_1995.thumb.jpg.0ce8f5202357bd65bcce8fc2c0bc171f.jpgIMG_1996.thumb.jpg.eba7d98587654a86144696395618546b.jpg

I made the choice to go with a green carpet with a pale green paint so the room would feel even more unique in our house.  Additionally, I think it goes well with my collecting focus, which as anyone who knows me would tell you is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Current:

There are a number of things I would still like to do:

  • My main method of comic storage is the modular Comic Cube setup.  I got these in 2020 and I absolutely LOVE them.  The drawers are very sturdy and the fact that they're modular make them reasonable to move myself if necessary.  I like them so much that I already put in another order for a smaller 2x3 setup for magazine-sized books to hold my magazine slabs and some overflow raws and hardcovers.  Currently they're still in standard comic boxes in the corner that isn't showcased.  I hope to provide an update later this year once the Comic Cube is done and in-place.
  • I've got a few art pieces that are already earmarked for professional framing and now I've got the space on the wall for them.  Again, I'll update once I get them.
  • I'd like to 3D print and paint a 1/4 scale Mouser or two to display with my 1990 Turtles in the display case.  Just a fun side project to work on.
  • Now that I know the space I'm working with, I'll probably let go of a few pieces that I don't think I'd plan on displaying so I can fund these other plans.  It's a vicious cycle.  lol

Anyway, I'm very excited and just wanted to share.  Thanks for looking!

That's an insanely awesome space you got there! It has it all! I'd love to bring my comics round and read them forever :)

Hi guys, it is really snowing here and I just wondered if anybody knows of any festive or winter issues from TMNT vol's 1-4. I feel like spending my weekend reading snowy episodes of the turtles!

The Christmas Aliens (Michelangelo One-Shot) is a fun light-hearted early TMNT story where Mikey meets his cat Klunk.

The Leonardo 1-shot takes place shortly after the Mikey 1-shot.  It's less-light hearted, but it's still one of the best issues in the whole series and snow is featured pretty well.  You may want to have issue #10 on-hand as well if you don't want to end on a cliffhanger.

Not exactly volume 1-4, but Tales volume 2 #65 is has an ice monster in winter and even features an appearance by Rat King.

Thanks! I acquired my first one in 1998, so completing it was a looong journey. I wasn't too picky about condition, but lucked out on many of them in that respect. The '86 Mike was framed on someone's wall for decades, so it's a bit faded, and the Fugitoid has some foxing or something near the bottom. Otherwise all are in pretty nice shape considering they're pushing 40.

Now you have the rare opportunity to display them all together somehow! Or print them onto tees ;) (I'm kidding really don't print them on to tees!)

Thanks for buzzing me, Addy. I'd skip anything from vol 4 for happiness, let's just say things were a bit... down in the dumps, especially for Mikey.

Likewise vol 3 doesn't see much cheer.

I'd go with @Turtle's choices. First thing I thought of was Mikey and Klunk. Such a wholesome story.

51, 52, 53, 55 and 58. Some of the tougher ones to find in decent grades with those black covers. They're out there, especially on eBay, but I like to run across them in the wild or on sales threads, or find deals where possible - that's been part of the most fun in finding the run! I completed the Tales 1-7 run that way too for the most part (for example, I got Tales #4 in a lot buy on eBay that was a mixed TMNT lot, and I found 2 copies of Tales #6 in a random box at an LCS for $10 each).
