I never thought so, but from a rare few responses, it may send the signal it is okay to pull a scam, but keep it low-dollar so people are embarrassed to even say something.

You know, if I were him I would try contacting each of the victims, apologize profusely & offer up alternate books to settle this. There's more ways than one to just fix this.
