W. R. Collectibles Features Early Spidey Mags on Ebay

Hello Darthdiesel's Comics & Collectibles,

Last week was so successful for us here at W. R. Collectibles we met our sales requirement to maintain our Silver powerseller status! We'd like to thank you for participating in what has been our most successful sales week on eBay EVER and invite you to take a look at what we have to offer this week. Aside from the plethora of high-grade modern X-Men and Spider-Man books, we'd like to draw your attention to our featured auctions this week. Closing on Wednesday, we will have 10 books from an old early Amazing Spider-Man collection. These books range from #13-35 and in GD to FN/VF condition. These all make great readers and a couple are actually decent CGC candidates considering the time period. Here's a brief review of those upcoming auctions:

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 13 1ST MYSTERIO APP, GD This issue features the first appearance of Mysterio. Interior pages are cream to off-white. The front cover is flat and retaining some of the original reflectivity and gloss. Corners are prominently rounded although the edges are rather smooth. The front cover is detached from the book but is still present. Staples are still present and attached with the back cover. The interior pages are soft and complete. Overall a decent example and with some restoration would be a nice copy. This would make a fine addition to your collection!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 20 1ST SCORPION APP, FN+! The title of this issue is "The Coming of The Scorpion". This issue features the origin and 1st appearance of The Scorpion. Interior pages are off-white to white. The front cover is flat retaining most of the original reflectivity and color of the inks. Edges are smooth with some slight wear and corners are slightly rounded. The spine is beautifully intact with the one staple off-center and some slight stress visible. Ink graffiti is visible just underneath the title in the form of two irregular shaped scribbles and "(278)" just underneath the "R". Interior pages feature astounding original color with very little signs of aging! I must admit, in my opinion the F+ is more a function of the graffiti for me more than anything, and I wouldn't hesitate to grade this a VF were it not present! This would make a fine addition to your collection!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 26 1ST CRIMEMASTER, VG/FN! The title of this issue is " The Mystery of the Man in the Crime-Master's Mask". This issue features the fourth appearance of the Green Goblin as well as the first appearance of The Crime-Master. Interior pages are cream to off-white. The front cover is almost totally flat with some minor folding and creasing visible in the outside corners. There is visible wear along the edges and corners are rounded as well. Inks have retained most of their original color although most of the original reflectivity has gone. Graffiti is present on the center of the front cover face "A.B. 140" in blue ink. Back cover shows some tanning along the edges with wear along the top edge and some dimpling on the face but some gloss is still present. Inside pages are cream to off-white with great original color in the inks. This would make a fine addition to your collection!

This issue features the death of Crime-Master as well as the fifth appearance of the Green Goblin and an appearance of Norman Osborne (face hidden in shadows). Interior pages are cream to off-white. The front cover is somewhat flat with extensive dimpling and folding along the face of the cover. The edges show handling wear and the corners are slightly rounded. There is extensive spine wear with visible creases running parallel as well as transverse to the spine. Inks still retain some of their original color and reflectivity. The back cover also exhibits similar tendencies to the front cover and also has an ink stamp in the upper inside quadrant. Interior pages are supple and cream to off-white in color with nice original color in the inks. This would make a fine addition to your collection!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 28 1ST MOLTEN MAN, VG! The title of this issue is "The Menace of The Molten Man". This issue features the origin of and first appearance of the Molten Man. Interior pages are off-white. The front cover exhibits some moderate creasing and folding just underneath the title but is otherwise flat. There is light wear along the edges and corners are slightly rounded. There is also some light spine roll with parallel and transverse creases apparent to the spine. Similar condition on the back cover with moderate creasing and folding evident halfway down the back cover. The inside pages are deceptively attractive, and are in far better condition than the cover. This would make a fine addition to your collection!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 30 CLAWS OF THE CAT, FN/VF The title of this issue is "The Claws of the Cat". Interior pages are off-white to white. In this issue, Ned Leeds first proposes to Betty Brant, but he is later refused. The front cover is predominantly flat with some slight wear along the edges and light rounding of the corners. Inks still retain most of their original color and some reflectivity. The inside pages are nice and supple with good color. This is actually an exemplary copy of this issue, but unfortunately there are no major villains. Nonetheless, this still would make a nice addition to a Silver ASM collection and it's definitely the right price!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 32 DOCTOR OCTOPUS, FN! The title of this issue is "Man on a Rampage". This issue reveals the "Master Planner" as none other than Doctor Octopus. Aunt May is in a hospital and is diagnosed with an illness related to a transfusion she received from Peter! Interior pages are cream to off-white. The top inside corner is moderately abraded and there is an extremely light fold extending from the bottom margin 3" from the outside bottom corner up to where the issue and month block are located. Back cover is clean with nice gloss and the staples are visibly off-center but present. A great addition to a Silver Age ASM collection!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 33 BETTY BRANT, VG! The title of this issue is "The Final Chapter". In this issue, the Master Planner gang is rounded up with the mastermind being revealed. Peter is able to save Aunt May and drive away Betty Brant once and for all. Interior pages are cream to off-white. The front and back covers both exhibit moderate creasing and folding from condensation exposure. Otherwise the cover is flat with some light wear along the edges and corners. There is some moderate abrasion on the top inside corner of the front cover. Pages and original staples are intact and it's still a great read! A great addition to a Silver Age ASM collection!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 34 KRAVEN THE HUNTER, VG/F The title of this issue is "The Thrill of the Hunt". In this issue, Spidey squares off against Kraven the Hunter for a rematch while it's revealed in the last panel that Betty Brant has suddenly left The Daily Bugle. Interior pages are cream to off-white. The front cover exhibits moderate creasing and folding in the middle of the cover face from condensation exposure. Otherwise the cover is flat with light wear along the edges and corners. There is some moderate abrasion in the top inside corner and bottom inside corner is slightly crushed. The spine is nice and smooth with very light small stress visible upon close inspection. It would also appear that the top staple has been replaced, evident by the stain near the company imprint. We're also slowly but surely adding more inventory to our webstore and we've fixed the PayPal bugaboo (yes, I said bugaboo) that was keeping the shipping charge from transferring. Also remember that if you're not a fan of PayPal you can always fill out the checkout form and send us a check or money order in the mail with the appropriate amount. You'll find our online comicstore here:

Thanks for taking the time to read our newsletter and God bless you. I can honestly say that so much has happened with this business and me, personally in the past year and I really believe there are good things on the horizon this year as well. With my wedding coming in June, I'll be proud to say that W. R. Collectibles will become a family owned and operated business. Who knows, we may even send out those silly Christmas cards with a family picture that says something warm and fuzzy like "Season's Greetings from the W. R. Collectibles Family!" On second thought, that's just a little too Brady Bunch for me!
