about 65 degrees here

It's warmer than that inside my house. :baiting:

The >2 feet of snow we have is incredibly beautiful. It's quite a chore, though, to get the car dug out and sidewalks cleared.

God, I hate snow. I wish I lived in southern California or Las Vegas. This is what it looks like outside my house about 3 hours ago when my crappy job let me off work early...... :eyeroll:

That looks like somwhere I drive...is that between Flatbush Ave and Coney Island Ave somewhere? or is it over in Bay Ridge?

We have a lot of big old trees and big old houses where I live in Brooklyn and the snow looks nice on them. I came home very happy to find that my wife and son had already shoveled as when I did it on saturday I threw my back out.

Haven't used 50 gallons of heating oil this year. Global warming you know. I did see on the news that the east coast is in a new ice age though. We're building a wall through the coast range in case they decide to head west.

US HAZARDS ASSESSMENT

NWS CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER CAMP SPRINGS MD

300 PM EST FEBRUARY 10 2010

SYNOPSIS: ANOTHER WINTER STORM IS FORECAST FOR THE EAST COAST AT THE BEGINNING OF NEXT WEEK. WHILE ACCUMULATIONS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE AS HIGH AS IN RECENT STORMS, A MODERATE STORM WILL HAVE GREATER IMPACTS GIVEN THE STRESS ON INFRASTRUCTURE FROM RECENT STORMS. PEOPLE WITH INTERESTS FROM WASHINGTON TO BOSTON SHOULD KEEP UPDATED WITH THE MOST CURRENT INFORMATION COMING OUT OF LOCAL NWS OFFICES.

THE REST OF THE PERIOD WILL SEE BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR A GOOD PORTION OF THE EASTERN THIRD OF THE COUNTRY. LOCATIONS IN THE SOUTHEAST WILL SEE THE GREATEST NEGATIVE TEMPERATURE ANOMALIES, ALTHOUGH AT THIS TIME, NO HAZARDS ARE EXPECTED AS FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE NOT PREDICTED TO IMPACT FLORIDA OR SOUTHERN GEORGIA.

MOSTLY DRY CONDITIONS ARE PREDICTED OVER THE LOWER 48, AS AN ACTIVE SOUTHERN JET STREAM MOVES TO MEXICO, TEMPORARILY SHUTTING OFF THE MOISTURE SOURCE THAT RECENT STORMS WERE ABLE TO TAP INTO.

HAZARDS

* ISOLATED ONGOING FLOODING FOR PARTS OF THE MID-ATLANTIC, SOUTHEAST, AND GULF COAST.

* HEAVY SNOW FOR PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST COAST ON FEB. 15-16.

* SEVERE DROUGHT IN PARTS OF WISCONSIN, ARIZONA, NEVADA, CALIFORNIA, AND WASHINGTON.

DETAILED SUMMARY

FOR SATURDAY FEBRUARY 13 - MONDAY FEBRUARY 15: THIS FORECAST PERIOD WILL BE DOMINATED BY AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE IN THE WESTERN STATES AND AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH IN THE EAST. THIS PATTERN FAVORS ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ALONG THE WEST COAST AND BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR THE EASTERN HALF OF THE CONUS. A LARGE UPPER-LEVEL LOW IS FORECAST TO RETROGRADE FROM THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC TO OFF THE CANADIAN COAST. AS IT DOES, A SHORTWAVE IS EXPECTED TO DIVE DOWN FROM CENTRAL CANADA INTO THE MIDWEST AND OHIO VALLEY, MAKING ITS WAY TOWARDS THE EAST COAST. ONLY LIGHT SNOW IS ANTICIPATED AS THIS PIECE OF ENERGY MOVES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. HOWEVER, AS IT MOVES OFFSHORE, RAPID INTENSIFICATION IS PREDICTED, WHICH COULD BRING HEAVY SNOW FROM WASHINGTON TO NEW YORK, LOCATIONS THAT HAVE RECENTLY SEEN HEAVY SNOW AND BLIZZARD CONDITIONS.
