If anyone is interested, I just posted my copy of Back Issues for sale here on the boards.

GLWTS Randall, very cool! Hopefully someone jumps on it quickly, so I won't be too tempted!

In today.  Does anybody know for sure if Stevens did the Kosmo Kat cameo on the cover?

This is actually my second try getting this issue, the first one I got was missing the first four wraps, which meant only 4 pages of the Stevens story were available.  The book was in otherwise such good shape I suspect a manufacturing error dropped a signature, rather than them being later removed.  This copy is not as nice... but at least it's complete!

I don't have any evidence of any kind, but I tend to believe the answer is yes. All of the other portraits appear to be in the style of those artists, and Kosmo has that thin, feathery ink link that I associate with Dave. So I'm ASSUMING he did that bit as well, but definitely don't have anything to back it up with other than my gut.

I got my copy many years ago, but just saw online that there's apparently a second print? I guess I need to go check mine out...

Found in a dollar bin.  Pretty sure I already have a copy, but no clue where it is, so grabbed it anyway:

The print run on this can't be very high.I only have 1 or 2 copies. It is a great cover and you can see both Kirby and Dave's art in it.Fun series too!

I was thinking something similar about the art... it looks just like you would expect to see with Stevens inking Kirby.

The series had some impressive cover artists.  In addition to the Kirby/ Stevens cover here, there are covers by Byrne, Perez, Arthur Adams, Chaykin, and Frazetta.

I'm in the process of building out a Dave Stevens collection.  When it comes to the Sheena 3-D special, how important was the inclusion of the 3-D glasses to you?  What exactly am I looking for?  I'm guessing the glasses were attached to the book in the same way cards would sometimes be inserted inside comics in the 90s where you would have to tear along the perforated edges.

As I recall, Blackthorne 3D comics came sealed in a clear bag with an already assembled and ready to use pair of plain while paper framed standard 3D glasses.

I was buying comics new at a LCS during this time.  Many 3D comics (which I was collecting at the time) came with loose 3D glasses that was given to you at the point of sale, some came with two pair of 3D glasses inserted between the covers and first wrap that you would have to take out and assemble.  These glasses were "narrower" than the others . I think some LCS bagged and boarded and inserted a loose pair inside with the comic at the point of sale.

Most Blackthorne 3D comics came with a loose pair given to you, most Eclipse 3D comics came with glasses inserted (attached).  There are exceptions.  Some examples that I still have that I remember.

Sheena 3D - my LCS handed out a loose pair of glasses with purchase (the white paper one with blue and red lenses that you folded to use).

3D Seduction of the Innocent (Eclipse) was the same, loose glasses given to you.

Three Stooges 3D (Eclipse) 3 issues - had the glasses inserted inside.

3D Zone 16 - had the glasses inserted inside.

It is kindof confusing now as a lot of people think all the 3D comics came with glasses attached when originally sold.

When the Sheena 3D came out,  I was buying comics at Comics Nuff Said in Charlotte and remember Norma Smith (one of the owners) telling me to put the glasses on and look at the covers of the rest of comics on the shelves. They looked more colorful even though they did not have a 3D effect, it was kindof neat and a different effect, thinking am I high or what (oh to be young again). That Sheena was one of the first 3D comics I bought.

Back in the early 1980s, some of us discovered that many of Michael Golden’s Micronauts covers seemed to pop while wearing 3D glasses… if I recall correctly, there were some letters in the letter column about this, too.

Here's a Transformers 3D issue apparently sealed in the bag with the glasses Blackthorne provided for this one.

Here's a loose Sheena with a pair of 3D glasses provided, but I'm not sure if these were the ones issued with this particular copy:

I have a run of those comics, and I'm going to check that out. I'd never heard of this.

That Valiant Vision process used by Valiant Comics for a short time in the mid 90's provided a 3D like effect but through clear (non-colored) lenses. The effect also "worked" to a degree on various other comics provided those comics featured a lot of red, orange, and yellow since those were the colors that made for the best effect through those kinds of glasses.

Look close at that Transformer comic and you will see that it is placed "not sealed" in a regular comic bag and backer board.  Probably "sealed" with tape at the back. And that is not the glasses that would have been distributed with it.  The seller may have bought it as it is and doesn't know.

Yes the GI Joe comic has the kind of 3D glasses that were handed out loosely for me at point of sale.  I got the same type with Blackthorne and some Eclipse.  The glasses would not have been folded over yet to fit your face yet.  I usually put the 3D glasses behind the backing board to keep them with the comic, one end folded back to fit them in the bag.

As far as Dave Stevens 3D covers, Sheena and 3D Seduction of the Innocent came with a loose pair of glasses

3D Zone 16 came with glasses very similar to the Eclipse inserted type - two pair attached together that you have to put together

Pictures as follows:

1. compares the type you got loose compared to Eclipse type inserted into books that you had to put together

2 and 3. Eclipse type glasses pulled out but not put together, showing each side
