What Does L.O.C. Stand For?

20 posts in this topic

I'm checking out ComicBase, and one of the note fields contains the following;

Mike Friedrich L.O.C.

What does that stand for? Thanks.

Letter of Comment. (i.e. Mike Friedrich wrote a letter to the comic and it was published in that issue.)

I was just going to post this, as Atomic Avenue uses the same term with many listings.

(thumbs u Comment or Correspondence

LOC used to appear often in the UK fanzines that I read back in the early 80s, such as BEM, and the term puzzled me for absolutely ages - even though when used in this type of publication the meaning should have been pretty obvious. loldoh!

Listed On Credits?

Left Off Credits?

Level (or Loss) Of Consciousness?

:shrug:

That's my standard use of it.

However, accoding to the replies I received on the ComicBase Forums, it means:

LOC is Letter of Comment. When someone of note (normally before they became 'famous') had a letter published in an Issue, some people like to keep track of them.

I've never seen this used, but that's what they say. (shrug)
