Has anyone went gone to a real auction with comics? I've went been to Christies for art and you see bargains from time to time.

Looks as if Christie's is not a place to learn grammar.

I'm hung over, home sick and just woke up. I knew I was getting sick, but still drank until I was hammered like a nail.

"K"rap that is bad. Read other posts I've made. They're not nearly as bad! I have family over for the next 3 weeks. Her's then mine. She's Russian and they drink and drink. I think we polished off a full 1.75lt of Absolute last night between us.

Then again my grammar will stink from time to time and I can't blame it on potatoes! :)

Steve B is THE man!!

heh was tellimg me bout a beautiful OO 9.0 FF 1 he inspected @ a collectgor's home

he said ot the owner, jsut get the thing cgc'd- then it;l be easily sellable if it comes to the time ur wife wants to sell the book ( i believe the owner was quite elderly)

Using Google Translation, I took your post and translated it into Latin.

Steve vir B!

PRO me est praedura tellimg pulchra FF OO I 9.0 @ circumspicere's home in collectgor

dixit dominus ot iustus adepto res tum cgc'd-: L sellable facile quidem pol ur tempus vendere uxorem libri (credo satis senex owner)

For fun, I then took the Latin translation and translated it into Turkish.

Steve adam B!

kendim için ben güzel tellimg 1 9.0 @ 's home OO sert FF büyür ve collectgor çevrelerinde bakmak

OT "Rabbin, sadece şeyler olsun" dedi ve özellikle-cgc'd: 50 gerçekten kolay (yeterli sahibi inanılacak yaşlı bir adam) satmaya kitabın eşi Ur zaman koymak sellable'll vardır

I then took the Turkish translation and went back to English with it.

Steve man B!

For myself, I'm pretty tellimg a 9.0 @ 's home hard FF OO collectgor grow and look around

OT, "Lord, just get something," he said, and in particular-cgc'd: 50 is really easy (enough to believe the owner of an old man) to sell the book when his wife put Ur has sellable'll

Google's translation is easier to read than than the original poster's post.

I want to know who is it that told the Lord to go out and get 50 CGCed books, especially if this person is telling the Lord to con an old man in order to get them. Disgraceful.

I also wonder if the Lord pays Heritage's standard seller's fee, or if he/she gets a discount.

Eh, I can understand the occasional error / typo / etc. I spent three years as a high school English teacher and 5 years as a college English teacher (now full-time), so I guess a few mistakes here and there are less egregious to me than the numerous bastardizations I am inundated with in the papers I read on a daily basis. So, if it's pretty close to the mark, I tend not to stress on it. Shoot! I've made my fair share of typos now and then as well.

Total disregard for grammar though? Well...good luck being understood.

And I've always felt the 20% premium Heritage charges buyers HAS to weed out some potential bidders. On the other hand, there are many auction sites that charge a comparable fee OR have minimum bids to get participate in an auction (i.e. all bids start at $100 or more). Each auction house has its own rules so caveat emptor (or something like that :) )

I know this is off topic, but I am curious if you do see a lot more students who can't correctly formulate their thoughts on paper due to "slang" that has now become apart of their written language.

Up until two years ago, I was responsible for recruitment into all areas of the company I worked for.

The standard of CV and covering letter was abysmal, both being littered with slang and text-speak.

Trust me, this sort of thing will be the death of civilisation.

I'm certainly not a great speller, but shouldn't that be civilization? :baiting:

And the Lord sayeth unto the Three Wise Men, 'Bringeth him gifts of suitable quality. Bring him only CGC'd comics with a blue label for the green and purple labels are products of the Devil. And if it Bronze Age, then only bringeth 9.8s. That lower grade stuff isn't fit to line the manger.'

SINGING:

Oh Lord, won't you buy me an X-Men 15?

My friends all have 9.8s, which I can't afford.

Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from the boards,

So oh Lord, won't you buy me an X-Men 15?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me an X-Men 15?

You'll know when you see it - the one with The Beast.

I saw one on Ebay - a thousand at least.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me an X-Men 15?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a silver age key?

I'm counting on you, Lord. I hope you hear my plea!

Don't want PGX . I need CGC.

So oh Lord, won't you buy me a silver age key?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me some Kirby OA?

My friends all have Ditkos; I think he's passé.

I don't care what title. Kamandi's OK.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me some Kirby OA?

Everybody!

Oh Lord, won't you buy me an X-Men 15?

No pressing or resto, and please -- no dry clean!

A blue CGC one. No purple or green.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me an X-Men 15?
