Action Comics #7 (DC, 1938) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Brittle pages....20,000 or so
collectors are still paying strong prices considering brittle pages...
yeah, I cut and lost...originally I was going to goto 25K, but the more I thought about it, the more the pq "bothered" me (even though if you look at the back cover scan, the majority of the pages looked ow or better...just at the bottom... wish we knew "degrees" as in 10 (falling apart if you breathe on it brittle) down to 1 (only one isolated area of the book has brittling)...something along those lines

I think you get slightly brittle if it's only affecting one isolated area, so if the book is designated as brittle I assume there are at least two problem areas.

from what I can tell, it appears to affect the entire bottom of the book...but man, from about 5% up, it looks sweet... I wish I didn't already have a nice restored copy, or I would have bought this...at 20K, I think I will regret not pursuing further...

Action 1...cgc 6.5 mod...143400

Wow, the Court Copy keeps setting records for a restored book.

Is this the copy that had been on display for some time in the Entertainment Museum? If so, had it traded hands since then or was it publicly known to be Geppi's copy up to this sale? I see it passed in May.

Four Color #348 Donald Duck (Dell, 1951) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white pages....2390
Believe it or not, this is a good bit lower than I thought it would sell for. I sold a 9.4 privately last year for more.

I thought the Ducks went for fairly weak prices overall. I guess the recovering Euro hasn't enticed our European cousins back to the market.

yah, PQ grades are in order perhaps..like that Tec 8 I got from you a few years back---99.9% cr/ow but for slight flakiness on a few undone tear sears---got slightly brittle PQ. :P Eye appeal for a 3.0 was darn good on that A7.

Four Color #178 Donald Duck (Dell, 1947) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages....10158
I wonder if Tim's happy.

??? I'm not the seller.

I know that. Yours is the 9.6. Just didn't know whether this was a strong enough price on the 9.4 to get your happy juices flowing.

I didn't even know the auction was today doh!.. So what were the surprises in session 1?

Seriously? You should now turn in your GACA Membership card and your Our-Boy-Roy Canadian-to-American Decoder Ring. :tonofbricks:

Nobody except for you and I have one of those. They're special.

(tsk)

I agree. I thought for sure that the weaker dollar was going to mean some higher prices. But, other than this #348 and the #108 on CLink, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

I thought it was a pretty weak price, but since a friend won it, I'm happy for him. Since I'm not planning on selling my copy anytime soon, benchmark pricing doesn't mean much to me.

Well, I guess if it had sold for $50K my eyebrows might've shot up a bit. ;)
