Are comics your primary or secondary hobby? What are your other hobbies?

Other things I like:

- Watching movies. Particularly, those independent and "B" movies most people never watch. I especially like Horror and Thrillers.

You should check out my uncles film studio

Starwaypictures.com

His most recent movie release is a horror movie starring my aunt :D

It's called The Blackout, trailers are on the website. He does all the special effects himself. Since he was a kid he was making horror movies in my grandpas huge backyard. Monster makeup, special effects, musical scores, promotional artwork, ever since he was in middle school. His day job is working on the Pink Panther kids show for the UK. His own production studio has included people who did special effects for Jurassic Park and the guy who did the 3D animation for the Iron Man cartoon opening scene.

Just checked the site. Yup, I love those types of movies. I'll have to check that one out. (thumbs u

Screenwriting - unproduced, but man I've come close. Currently writing an epic period spec.

I wrote two screenplays and an episode of the Simpsons on spec.

I've had a few productions companies tease me a bit years ago. Never got over the hump though. Since getting married and kids, I just never had time to pursue it the way I did before.

I wrote a spec Smallville episode that got me into a lot of doors. Ended up pitching a feature -script to the producers of Elf that they loved. We developed it over the course of a year, but the two partners wanted different things from the -script, and eventually I told them that I had to write it my way. One of them loved it and the other didn't, so we parted ways.

Like you, a baby came along, and I haven't written a screenplay in three years. But, I've just started one that I'm very excited about.

There used to be an amazing Simpsons website (maybe springfield.com or something like that? And it's long been shutdown) where people would upload their screenplays. Did you ever go to that? I wish I could recall the name, but the homepage looked like Bart's treehouse.

Alot of the screenplays were actually really, really good. There was one, in particular, that was truly great. Could have been a real episode (from the great years). Had to do with Homer becoming a Native American so he could open a casino in Springfield. The guy who wrote it just nailed it. It was a true full episode too. Some people would just post up a basic outline. This guy had the entire -script worked out (and scene discriptions). It was frikkin' hilarious. Reading it was like watching an episode.

That sounds pretty wild. I'll check it out! (thumbs u

Please explain to me how I forgot about homebrewing??? lol I guess that's because I didn't have time to make more than 2-3 brew in 2010. :tonofbricks:

My last batch was an Amarillo IPA though I did use some Millenium hops in the last 5 minutes of the boil. Really nice beer--if you like IPA. I have a dunkelweisse that I've been sitting on for about 3 months and I really need to get my rear in gear with it.

I have been tempted, but I have so many neighbor that brew their own beer

I said to myself I'll just drink theirs...

It's almost like when you have a bunch of neighbors that own boats,

when I want to go out I'll just take theirs.

It's rocks to like a drunken community.

I've been trying to teach myself to play chess for about two weeks now. I find it frustrating, but compelling at the same time.

Back in the old days, I was into '68 – '74 Mopars. In fact, until my current ride that's all I drove with the exeception of an '85 Daytona, the only new car I ever bought. lol I’ve owned a ’75 Coronet wagon, ’71 Charger, ’70 Challenger, ’71 Satellite, ’70 Satellite convertible, ’70 Dart Swinger, ’75 Dart 4-door and ’76 Swinger.

I'm into slightly older Mopar.

Comics are my main hobby. A close second, my saltwater tanks. I have four ranging from 10-37 gallons. Cooking and azzing around with my dogs bring up the rear. I love my dogs. :cloud9:
Thats a hobby i really want to get in to. I want an octopus or cuddlefish!

Do your research before you get into octopus or cuttlefish. You will need a 200-300 gallon tank for cuttlefish. Octopus, 30 plus gallons with an escape-proof cover.

Much, much, MUCH bigger!

A cuttle will need at least a 500g system most likely. They need A LOT of space. Octopus is doable in a small tank but like Diggler said quintuple check that it is escape proof. Eels are escape artists times 10 but are nothing compared to an octo. You need almost an airtight seal or those smart bastards will figure a way out.

If you are serious about cuttles, go on reefcentral.com and search for them. I cant remember the guys name right now but he actually breeds them in his tank which IIRC is the only guy that has ever successfully bred them in a home aquarium.

Yea, havin a family tends to slow down beer production. But it sounds like you're still thinkin abou it. How's the micro-brew-pub scene where you live ? Drinking someone elses fresh made beer is the next best thing (thumbs u

All my hobbies are about equal.

I put time (and money) into all of the following

Cars (05 Mustang, 69 mustang)

motorcycle

Golf

miniature wargaming

drawing

too many hobbies not enough time!

I have a lot of parallels to your situation....

Primary is motorcycle racing... I race and I am also an instructor at two different racing schools teaching people how to race....cannot even begin to describe how much time and money I have spent on this travelling across the country racing at places like Daytona.. Road Atlanta and other tracks across the country.. plus all of the time and money that goes into preparing the bikes for the track, and all of my safety equipment (you don't skimp when you are going over 170 mph on some tracks)...and consumables... seriously.. tires are one weekend and done.. and they are around $450 plus a set... ugh...

I also play golf.. (badly.. but I do play)...

Minature wargaming... 40K mostly... but was really into Mechwarrior (CMG) from Wizkids when it was active.. still selling my collection off in bits and pieces...

Raising and chasing around my 2 1/2 year old daughter with my wife who puts up with all of my wastes of time....(truly the primary thing in life at this point)...

and of course comics... been back into active collecting about three years now and the hardest thing is trying to find time to do it all...

Plus a couple of pics of my fun stuff...

lol God is the one who instituted all the feasts and festivals in the old Test. They had parties for all kinds of stuff. I guess He knew it was good for people to eat and drink, laugh, dance, and just generally have a good time......

So did you get to disign anything or motorized the way things moved and worked ?? It would be cool to say, "yea, I designed that pile of gold" or "that tree" or something. I made a big mural from one of the games I recorded one time. Its awesome.....but the wife thought I was crazy when I was building it :)

Best way is to find someone else who is about your skill level and play. Just set aside some time for it like you would for watching a football game or something

I've moved away from bleach altogether and begun using iodine--far less problematic in the bottling phase.
