New GA Pedigree?

5 posts in this topic

Here is the original thread that was posted in the general comics forum, but in case any of you (like me) tend to read here first and only skim that one, I thought I would mention it here...

There was an estate sale today in Wichita, KS that contained a slew of GA comics from an original owner collection. I did not know about it until this afternoon or else I would've taken a road trip, if for no other reason than to gawk.

This news story from a Wichita TV station sort of alludes to a Superman #1, but you can never tell for sure when somebody who knows nothing about comics writes a story about them.

Here's what was up for sale today according to the auctioneer's website (thanks to povertyrow for sorting it alphabetically).

There were 127 comics that were auctioned off. Steve from diamond distribution won 80% of them. I believe they said its now a pedigree at the auction. Another 100 will be auctioned in the summer or fall.

Anyway, if there were more GA keys in the collection, maybe those will show up in the next batch that go up for auction (perhaps the aforementioned Superman #1).

Just goes to show you that this stuff is still out there to be discovered! cool.gif

As I said in the other thread - nothing like finding out about this the day AFTER the auction. I don't think it deserves the pedigree status. Nice collection of books but the condition of several I glanced at was weak and less than 300 total books does not a pedigree make. 893naughty-thumb.gif
