Hey, give him credit.

After eight years he finally leaned to turn off the caps lock when posting.

Very weak 9.6

If I sent that in: 9.2

+1,000... it's honestly recent gift grades like this that have me wondering... that may be one of the worse Silver age 9.6's I've seen. If somebody has a worse one... post me out...

Looks like a great comic to me. For you guys who think the book is a 9.2 - I'd be interested in seeing a link to a super-large Heritage scan of a 9.2 that looks as good as this comic. (shrug)

Not to battle here ) ... but like I said, post a silver age 9.6 that has the glaring flaws that this book has? Finding 9.2's that look better than this book would be too easy...

Here's a link to all the 9.6's on Heritage with big scans... good luck...

I disagree. Not even close IMO

Amen on that. I'd like to have either as they are great books. But that's label chasing to it's finest with those two examples...

you guys are high on that on GL76. 9.0? GIve me a break. That's as far off as calling it a 9.6. 9.2, 9.4... either of those grades are OK. If you don't mind overspray there is very very little wrong with that book. A couple spine stress and a fuzzy corner is all that's noticeable on a huge larger than life scan. To me that's a classic tweener "9.3".

+1

That GL is definitely a WEAK 9.6! 4 soft corners and it looks like at least 4 color breaking spine dings. 9.6?!? people are disareeing with my grading in my sales thread for a 9.0-9.2 with 5-6 small CB dings. That thing has 4 and is a freaking 9.6???

No way thats a 9.0 though. Like bronty said, if i submitted that i'd be hoping for a 9.4 and expecting a 9.2 (thumbs u

Sorry, but I've looked at plenty of ultra-large Heritage scans past and present, and am of the belief that the ST135 is a solid 9.6. You don't and suggested it was a 9.2, so I asked you to show me any Heritage scans of 9.2s that look as good as this ST135. Alternatively, it would be informative to post one of your own 9.2s with a large scan that looks as nice as this ST.

The comic is gorgeous, and will rightfully command a premium price at auction. One of the great things about our hobby is that each of us looks for different characteristics in the comics we collect, so if this one doesn't fit your bill it's cool you've got so many more to choose from.

Here is my 9.4 copy to compare with. Bob don't you also have a 9.4?

The only real issue with my copy is the upper left corner. The top right though looks like a fold/crease there is not on the book. Either from the scanner or case itself.

You'd have to blow it up to three times its current size and brighten it, Steve, to be comparable to the Heritage scan that some people are hammering.

Here's what a 9.4 looks like a bit larger and brighter. It has as nice or nicer top and bottom edges than the Twin Cities copy, but the spine and bottom right corner are clearly inferior.

And here's what a 9.2 copy looks like, unfortunately with the bottom edge not visible. I think the Twin Cities 9.6 is clearly nicer than this one:

Book looks like a solid 9.6 to me. I think what we have here is someone who's not used to looking at how big flaws can look in high-resolution scans and is thinking they're more significant than they actually are likely to be. If someone thinks this isn't a 9.6, post a defect inventory of what you're seeing, which is a list of visible defects in the scan accompanied by estimated measurements of each defect. I suspect if you go through this exercise you'll realize the defects you're seeing are extremely minor in size at only around 1/64" to 1/16".

I think the current Strange tale on HA is a soft 9.6 but i wouldn't go as far as calling it a 9.2 or even a 9.4 as some are saying here. I have a few 9.6 in slabs that are slightly worse so this book is nice.

I agree, the HA scans enlarged are so big an clear that comparing to Rube's copy can only be done fairly if he blew that up twice the size in high resolution

My thoughts: Technically, it's a 9.4. But I have seen few books with the preservation of this one. The back cover is extremely white, and the colors on the front cover are really incredible. That's why it got a 9.6, and in my opinion, it's well deserved. If you held most 9.4s up to this copy, you would pick this one every time.
