Specifically in respect of ASM #234, that issue had a bespoke insert (Marvel Guide to Collecting Comics) which was likely the reason for the MJI omission. Enough avid collectors were on the hunt, over many years, so if one of the 'missing' issues were to appear now it would likely be a construct, i.e. someone built it post production for a laugh or to try to make money. Here's a good attempt at that - good in the sense that it stands out from fifty miles away as being a fake: Microchip, Cpt Kirk, comic_memories and 1 other

The inserts didn't make it into every issue of a particular title, and sometimes an entire month or few months of all titles from a publisher. Either they wouldn't fit(like double-sized issues which left the centerfolds with little room for an insert), weren't planned for that timeframe(this occurred often in the early days of the inserts), or the issue was too close to the deadline for publication and they simply didn't have enough time to put the inserts in(this is probably true for most of the later issues of ASM like 293, 295, 298, 323). comic_memories, Cpt Kirk and Get Marwood & I

My highest graded Amazing Spider-Man MJI is #177 in 9.6. It made me wonder how rare 9.8 ASM MJIs are. Well, according to GPA and my own experience, there are only 17 ASMs with the insert that are 9.8(in fact, there are more 9.8 ASM double covers in the run from 96-349!). Here are the issues that have 9.8s that have been sold since GPA started compiling sales: #135, 144, 162, 191, 240, 252*, 265, 280, 287, 288, 299, 303, 308, 312, 316, 321, 338. So only 4 from the Bronze Age. Represents just how rare high grade MJI copies are to find! *Not on GPA, I know this from an eBay user showing me a picture of theirs This is amazing research! How do you go about finding out what the highest graded MJI is and how many there are? Didn’t know this was possible? I have a ASM 129 in CGC9.2. Always wondered if there were any higher graded ones… trademarkcomics

They've compiled sales records for the past 20 or so years, so since CGC doesn't track MJIs, sites like theirs are the only way to find out if something exists. It doesn't mean there aren't higher grade MJIs out there, they've just not been logged by them. And according to their records there are no MJI copies logged higher than a 9.2, so you may well have the highest graded copy, but not the only one. There are at least two 9.2s out there. If you paid about 2300 for yours in 2019*, then yours is one of the two that sold that year. If not, then there are at least 3 9.2 MJIs out there. *Creepy, huh? On GPAanalysis, is there a flag for MJI so it’s easy to find? Or do you need to go through the detail?!
