There was a thin backer board in the center to help prevent the comic from being damaged during handling. You can see the blue Mark Jeweler page just sticking out at the top right in the photo. That got me into the inserts, and is actually what brought me to these boards in 2003. My very 1st post was a question about MJ inserts. I believe I asked my LCS owner first. He directed me here. The very 1st Hulk 181 I ever bought was a CGC 8.5 ow/w with the MJ insert. By far my biggest comic purchase at that point. It cost me $750 US (missing that book now ) Somehow I don’t own a single MJ book right now. But hopefully the postman will drop one off tomorrow....and my addiction can begin anew edit: Couldn’t find my first post, but I came across this....
